Incumbent Republican Congressman Doug Bereuter ran for re-election to a tenth term.[2] He was challenged by Lincoln radio talk show host Patrick Combs, the Democratic nominee, and won re-election in a landslide, receiving 70 percent of the vote to Combs's 30 percent.
