Q 1: Why is this article separate from the article on Jesus?
Q 2: Why is this article not called "Jesus Christ", and why does that term not redirect here?
Q 3: Does the lede image Christ Pantocrator from Saint Catherine's Monastery fit this article, and not favor some denomination over others?

Weasel words section
Per WP:WEASEL, I have tagged the "Symbols" section: The use of "Χ" as an abbreviation for “Christ” derives from the Greek letter Chi (χ), in the word Christós (Greek: Χριστός). In the abbreviation "Χmas" it has sometimes[when?] been misinterpreted[by whom?] as a modern secularization of the term, but the centuries-old English word Χmas is actually an English form of χ-mas, itself an abbreviation for Christ-mas. Christians are sometimes[when?] referred to[by whom?] as "Xians", with the 'X' replacing 'Christ'. "Synonymous"?
The lede sentence says "Christ" is "synonymous" with "Jesus" for Christians. I don't know what the cited sources say, but I dispute this wording of "synonymous". "Jesus" as an Anglicized version of his Aramaic given name means one thing to me, and "Christ" as derived from a Greek term means another thing. They mean different things while referring to the same person, the same reality, the same concept, and they are mostly, usually interchangeable, but they are emphatically not "synonymous" because each one does indeed have distinct meanings and connotations. Usage by early followers
From what I know, and from its article (which we can't cite but is good enough for my argument) Philippians is an authentic Pauline epistle, and in the first verse of the first chapter, we have "ihsou cristou", that is, Jesus Christ (https://www.scripture4all.org/OnlineInterlinear/NTpdf/phi1.pdf). Would this not counter the first paragraph which insinuates, if not claims, that Jesus Christ wasn't a title to early followers of Christ? If nobody has any qualms with this, I'll go in a rewrite it. (Obviously while avoiding original research by citing the Interlinear) I can do stuff! (talk) 23:25, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
