Proposed deletion of Johannes Winkler (disambiguation)

The article Johannes Winkler (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Invalid and unnecessary disambiguation page containing the primary topic and only one other topic.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AllTheUsernamesAreInUse (talk)

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Viola Concerto (Piston) did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →
Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button.

Disambiguation link notification for December 17
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Igor Malinovsky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zürich University. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 19:54, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in I Am the Walrus, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. freshacconci (✉) 12:44, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
Category:Wikipedia categories named after Polish noble families
Hi, why did you move all Polish noble families categories from Category:Polish noble families to this one? What's the logic behind it? Marcelus (talk) 14:55, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- I added Category:Wikipedia categories named after Polish noble families to them so I didn't have to add Category:Polish noble families, Category:Wikipedia categories named after noble families, and Category:Wikipedia categories named after Polish families.--EIGHTCLOUDS (talk) 01:30, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- You still didn't answer my question. What's the logic behind replacing Category:Polish noble families with hidden category?
- Please revert your changes, this is undiscussed move. Marcelus (talk) 10:39, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. There may be some point in having those Wikipedia categories named... categories, although I can't see it now. But you should not remove main categories. Category:Matejko family obviously belongs in Category:Polish families, etc. Please self-revert and don't remove such categories in the future. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:RTÉ Concert Orchestra soundtracks

A tag has been placed on Category:RTÉ Concert Orchestra soundtracks indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. ✗plicit 23:52, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Albums and songs category templates
Hi Eight, if an artist's albums or songs categories have an {{Albums category}} or {{Songs category}} template applied to them, there is no need to add the "Works by" categories you've been creating as a parent manually. It is taken care of automatically by the templates. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:40, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Do you not know how the template works? You do not have to add it then remove it like you did with these edits to Category:Chuck Wayne albums. If you want it to appear right away, just click edit and save one time without making any changes to it at all. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 07:17, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your edits to Wikipedia. I wanted to follow up about an edit where, Adeline Werligh was removed from a parent category.
This category is part of a group that falls under WP:EGRS, which covers categories based on ethnicity, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. These categories are typically set up as non-diffusing. That means when a page is added to a subcategory like this one, it's still meant to be included in the parent category as well.
This is important because removing someone from the parent category can unintentionally change who appears to "belong" there. Over time, that can make the main category look less representative than it actually is, which the EGRS guideline is designed to avoid.
If you're not sure whether a subcategory is non-diffusing, you can often check the category page itself; many include a note or template. You can also read more at WP:EGRS and in the section on the final-rung rule. If you need further help, ask at the Teahouse. Thanks again for contributing, and I hope this helps clarify things! Tagging by category
Could you have a look at WP:CATSPECIFIC before continuing to add wars, castles, etc to eponymous categories such as Richard of Cornwall? This appears to be "tagging by category" which is specifically deprecated: "Important: All categories form part of a tree-like hierarchy. Do not add categories to pages as if they are tags." There is no hierarchical relationship between Richard of Cornwall and the Barons' Crusade or Wallingford Castle: neither is a sub-topic of the other, so categorisation here is inappropriate. Thanks. Dave.Dunford (talk) 13:14, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- If you're not sure about the point I'm making, see this ANI discussion in which an editor received an indefinite topic ban from categories and categorisation because of persistent similar edits.
