- @Pokelego999: Thank you for making a calm and factual nomination, casting no aspersions on other editors' competence. AFD would be nicer if everyone behaved like that. – Fayenatic London 11:24, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
List of twin teammates in sports moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to List of twin teammates in sports. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it has no sources. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:09, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – February 2026
News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2026).
- Due to the result of a recent motion, a rough consensus of administrators at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor's Arab-Israeli conflict topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.
- Voting in the 2026 Steward elections started on 06 February 2026 at 14:00 (UTC) and will end on 27 February 2026 at 14:00 (UTC). The confirmation process for current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.
CFD/Speedy bug
Hi!
Re this, there was an edit conflict. Of course the multiple CFDS submission tool does not manage multiple targets, which should be the default for C2F. They need to be added manually, which I now did. In the end I removed your comment because I re-submitted my own version. I hope you don't mind. Place Clichy (talk) 10:53, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Why did you move Piotrowice, Gmina Kostomłoty
Hi, could you please care to elaborate why "Środa County" is ambiguous? Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:31, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- Although there is only one Piotrowice in a county with that name, there are now two counties called Środa County. – Fayenatic London 23:35, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london Stop moving articles this instant. This is vandalism and I will report it if you continue and do not revert your edits. I know you moved them because there's more than one Środa County, but this is not the reason. Sroda County is fine enouth distinction if there's no two locations of the same name in two different counties named Środa. What you did caused mess for houndrets of articles. Please stop no and go fix it. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:37, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Yeah this is absolutely not vandalism. – LuniZunie(talk) 23:43, 23 February 2026 (UTC)- So far there is consensus at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Poland-related_articles#Disambiguating_town_names for what I am now doing.
- Please let me know what mess you are referring to. Special:WhatLinksHere/Piotrowice, Gmina Kostomłoty looks neat to me. I am in the middle of changing my incorrect renames using the pattern Grabowiec, Opole County, Lublin Voivodeship to Grabowiec, Gmina Łaziska which follows the guideline.
- I might ask you why you did not update the county name within the article when you moved Piotrowice, Gmina Kostomłoty to the new county name. – Fayenatic London 23:48, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- For the record, Artemis Andromeda has not given any explanation about what I was supposedly doing wrong, and a couple of other editors seem to think I'm working on the right lines, so I will carry on. – Fayenatic London 22:35, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

You should change your big red L to a T
In your Introduction section, you're displaying a big red L for "learner". While we're all still learning, I think you should better display a T for "teacher". I was thinking of making one for you, but then I saw that you just got a much nicer award. Anyway, thanks for your help! ◅ Sebastian Helm 🗨 14:50, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Query
Hello, Fayenatic london,
I was just wondering why you deleted those empty categories on Dutch India right after I tagged them as CSD C1. You cite a CFD discussion but these categories weren't included in that discussion. It just seemed peculiar to me, like you jumpted the gun, especially as I was just going through them all and tagging them. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 17:33, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Liz, I was following up a CFD processed by bot from the Working page, and found parent categories that had been emptied. IMHO it's best practice for the nominator at CFD to tag and list such parent categories in the CFD discussion, but failing that, it's better for the deletion log entry to record a link to the CFD that removed the former category contents, than to record a bare WP:C1 with no clue as to why it was empty. In the past you've thanked me for similar deletions, so I thought you took a similar view on the latter.
- I guess it would be better for me to record the rationale for deletion as WP:G6 (housekeeping) as well as C1.
- Today I had just done French India, and went on to the similar group for Dutch India. I wasn't checking the times that the empty categories had been tagged (by you as it happened), nor wittingly following your edits; I was just working my way up the hierarchy from the empty cats left at what was now the bottom layer. If you'd crossed paths with me, I would have expected you to leave that hierarchy aside, as I generally try to follow up through the whole structure in one go – whether they are tagged or not. – Fayenatic London 21:52, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Bulgarian people in Ottoman Macedonia
I may at some point work on that. Right now I am in the midst of trying to split Category:American bankers by state, but I have decided to mainly only split people when it is clear that they worked primarily at a bank based in a specific state. There are over 1000 articles in the parent. I think once I get done with that I will go back to going through people by year of death. I started before 1 AD and have made it to 1857, skipping a few years though. I figure I will deal with populating Category:Bulgarian people in Ottoman Macedonia when I get to the later 19th-century when articles on people there start popping up. The underlying problem is that some editors want to organize residents of the Ottoman Empire, Austrian Empire and Russian Empire by assigning them to catregories for nationals of states that were made after those empires fell. Which is how we have ended up with a large number of people who identified as German in the Czech people category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:47, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- Well, over to you. (CFD link for ref.) The trouble is that you started a category and left it looking obviously half-baked, as the contents only have surnames in the range A to D. – Fayenatic London 14:53, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- And now my attempts to populate that category have led to mass reversions. I am just fed up. I have tried to name categories in ways that respect historical reality. I was placing people in categories that recognized they were in the Ottoman Empire which they were, and recognizing ethnic identify and even place within the Ottoman Empire. That is an objective category. This is frustrating. Basically some editors are trying to organize people in Eastern Europe into categories that treat the countries that exist there now as if they are the way things always have been, and then categorize people according to the countries that now exist instead of the countries they actually lived in. It is extremely frustrating to spend all this time building a category to then have it mass destroyed. Especially by an editor who is intent on rewriting history and not categorizing subjects of the Ottoman Empire as such.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:45, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- I do not see what your issue is with peoples' regional identity, as if it is not defining. You previously tried to have the category deleted and then withdrew your nomination. Now, you are trying to have the category replaced entirely by removing it from articles. I do not think this is constructive. By the way, I only reverted it for articles where it is verifiable. StephenMacky1 (talk) 15:49, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- I am not "removing the category from article". Category:Bulgarian people in Ottoman Macedonia is a sub-cat of Category:Macedonia Bulgarians. Articles should not be in both a parent and a sub-cat. Please undo all your reversions of my legitimate edits. Moving articles to existing sub-cats is acceptable. I am not trying to "destroy the category" because A-moving something to a sub-cat is not destroying a sub-cat by reorganizing it, B-there are articles in the parent that do not fit in the sub-cat. These people were subjects of the Ottoman Empire and need to be categorized as such. Things that are in a sub-category should not be in a parent category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:58, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- It is a subcat, but I think the parent category "Macedonian Bulgarians" is more appropriate because some of these individuals did not live only in the Ottoman Empire and their regional identity is defining and verifiable. We already categorize individuals based on the places they lived in. Anyway, I started a centralized discussion about this already. I will see what other editors think as well. Administrators' newsletter – May 2026
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2026).

Interface administrator changes
- Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
- The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).
- The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
- Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
- Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
- The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.
- The May 2026 administrator elections are scheduled to run from April 29 to May 19. The call for candidates ends May 5.
- The 2026 Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is scheduled to run from April 25 to June 1. Candidacy submissions close on May 10.
- A new noticeboard for non-urgent, batch page protection requests has been created, primarily for the enforcement of contentious topic restrictions.
