Orphan is applicable because there are no articles linking to it, only internal wikipedia pages like the DYK nom our our talk pages. See . In other words, you should add mentions of (in form of blue links) of RW to some other pages which would be relevant. Regarding the DYK nom, you should blue link and bold RW name (again, look at other noms on that page). Glad you are joining our English community, I think there are many French-language topics that we need to translate to the English-speaking word (I am not a native speaker of English myself, and I do a lot of translations from Polish Wikipedia, too). --_{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 08:00, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

For the programs in Kenya lots of articles can be found on this page: http://grassrootseconomics.org/media#news - you can also search google for more articles going all the way back to Eco-Pesa. Ng'ombeni-Pesa, Lindi-Pesa, Kangemi-Pesa, Gatina-Pesa and Balngla-Pesa all fall under what we call the Sarafu-Credit (a generic term for the type of Community Currencies here in Kenya). Bonsoir @Headbomb:, ce n'était pas vraiment le focus principal. Le E majuscule est un clin d'œil à l'émiliE, car le projet a démarré en 2015 sur une idée de la fondation Émilie Gourd, qui a mandaté une conférence sur le gender gap au service égalité de l'Université de Genève après avoir lu l'article du NYT à ce sujet en 2011. Par ailleurs, cela fait référence au mouvement des droits civiques américains Malcom X par exemple) ou encore bell hooks, féministe afro américaine. Le fait d'escamoter une majuscule est un symbole de participativité, et se réfère à ce qui est réalisé plutôt qu'à qui les gens sont. Cela se réfère donc à une philosophie humaniste et inclusive. Ensuite le E est la marque du féminin, le mettre en majuscule souligne le fait que les sans pagES se préoccupent du gender gap, mais demeurent un projet inclusif ou chacun·e est bienvenu·e quel que soit son genre (puis qu'on ne fait pas référence aux femmes dans le titre). Quand j'ai cherché le nom, il me paraissait important que ce soit un projet inclusif qui pourrait attirer aussi des contributeurs, ou des personnes ne s'identifiant pas avec un genre binaire. Évidemment le nom est aussi un clin d'œil aux sans culottes, qui était le nom méprisant donné aux manifestant·e·s de milieux populaires des débuts de la révolution française, des hommes qui ne portaient pas les pantalons courts et les bas. Especially with you editing Wikidata, the metrics you generate are probably going to be more than everyone else put together, so your score here will make the rest of the report challenging to interpret. This is a known problem with the meta:Programs & Events Dashboard, and it is unfair to you because it means that it is hard to include the contributions of experienced Wikipedia contributors. I expect you understand - you do outreach. We all would really appreciate anything you can do to support the event. I met three fabulous contributors of AfroCrowd and they invited me to participate, so I notified my community on les sans pagEs francophone project. Seems some of them got really interested, and having interwiki cooperation is an idea I really like. It is challenging for me to show the situation and even I do not know everything about how tracking works. at d:Special:Contributions/Nattes_à_chat your Wikidata log shows that 10 days ago you edited Wikidata. The amount of content changes which happen over seconds in Wikidata is uncommon for a couple of hours in Wikipedia, so this throws the event record off if anyone wants to see Wikipedia. I think in the future the tool will change to separate Wikipedia and Wikidata edits, but for now it mixes them. The report it was giving indicated that there were huge Wikidata edits beyond what anyone could expect to happen on Wikipedia. We need the Wikidata records but it is too much to show to the public as the event is starting.

You signed in at the bottom of the page. That is enough - the event organizers will check all your contributions - Wikipedia and Wikidata - based on that. If anyone edits Wikidata during the event, that is fine.

From today, now the the event is starting, tell anyone to sign in however they like, either by signing the bottom of the page or by joining the event dashboard as you did.

I understand dont worry! In fact the reason why there were so many wikidata edits it that i was entrering witches and geolocalizing their death place in order for them to appear on the map of persecuted witches! I dont usually do so many wikidata edits. I hope the event goes well, I've translated one article. If some people translate into French we could reread the articles (but I dont know where to look what has been edited. Hi, the English Wikipedia recently created a new user permission for editors involved in off-wiki outreach work, event coordinator. This new permission allows users to mark accounts for confirmed for up to 10 days, and also allows them to create accounts for events without rate limits without some of the features of the account creator right that aren't used at edit-a-thons and other events. I have added the event coordinator permission to your account and removed the account creator permission, as you appear to have been using it mainly for outreach work.

This should have no noticeable impact on your ability to create accounts, and will give you the extra ability to temporarily confirm accounts if you need to. Thank you @TonyBallioni:. It is true I mainly use it for outreach during editathons and events. What is a confirmed account? Another feature we might need woth this is the ability to get back drafts of deleted articles. Only admins can do it, and this is sometimes useful when articles are deleted when newbies copy-pasted a passage with author rights. The Wikimedia Foundation does not allow access to deleted content to users unless they pass an RfA or an RfA-equivalent for legal reasons. If someone needs deleted content, the best thing to do is contact the deleting administrator.

Confirming an account just allows it to create new pages directly in mainspace, move pages (including drafts) to mainspace on your own, and to avoid captchas. This normally is attached automatically after 4 days (autoconfirmed). You can find out more about the right and how to use it at WP:EVC. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. In case you don't notice the changes on the GAR page: I broke Narodnoye delo into a separate article, since I think it ought to have one and at any rate that section was more about the paper than Elisabeth Dmitrieff. So far, writing Nikolai Utin, I've barely come across anything mentioning any women, even Olga, which is... well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that all the women get ignored, but nevertheless. (Surprise surprise, Dmitrieff's Swiss Dictionary of Biography article mentions Utin, but his doesn't mention her.) If you think you can find anything else on Dmitrieff and Narodnoye delo, I think that would be a really worthwhile addition. I just went through and started to answer the questions. I have bought a few books on the history of the first international since to dig into this. There are two chapters concerning Narodnoe Delo in Woodford McClelland 's Revolutionnary Exiles, the russians in the first international and the Paris commune. It also describes Nicolas Utin (and Dmitrieff). i have under electronic format as well (makes it easier to search for text when you are contributing). Fair warning, in case you haven't already noticed: handle this source with some care, as he has an obvious pro-Marxist slant (at the expense of populists/anarchists/liberals/etc) that complicates his discussion of people he clearly really, really wishes were Marxists. I note although the two reviewa point to an unfair representation of MacClelland of the anarchist group in the first internaltional (or more precisely what would become the Bakounine anarrchist group) bith these articles still give credit to the documented personnal lives he describes. Dmitrieff was more on Utin's side at the time (and Marx) so I think we can trust the accounts, although we have hints in her later life that she took her distances with Marx (this is why she could perhaps join the Jack of heart group, but there is a lack of historic sources on this group. Were they terrorists, robin hoods or bandits ? Or a bit of the three? I would like more material on this but have not found it. I would love to have the photos of the trial too on commons (as Dmitrieff testifeid for her husband). I would also love to have photos of the Dmitrieff museum in Volok. The anti-anarchist representation I am not so worried about, because it's so transparently obvious; I'm more cautious about anything that could be affected by the pro-Marxist slant, since he appears to want to cast many of these people as Marxists when really it looks like they have been more accurately "friends of Marx" or "interested in Marxism". On the facts of their lives (Dmitrieff visiting Marx in London, for eg) I see no reason to doubt him. Once he starts describing what they believe, or why they did various things, I become more skeptical.

I don't think your "terrorists, Robin Hoods, or bandits" question can be answered, since it's always going to come down to us through interpretation by someone or other, unless someone manages to turn up a new cache of primary documents somewhere (unlikely). But I am really intrigued. I shouldn't look into it right now because I have other deadlines and I think work on the Jacks of Hearts can wait until the Elisabeth Dmitrieff GA review is done, but I'll see if I can turn up anything on them later this month.

Asking someone on ru-wp for photos sounds like a good idea! I would love to see how she is presented there, especially since it seems like it will be a bit at odds with what her three Russian biographers have written. -- asilvering (talk) 19:41, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Oh. Well actually it turns out the question can be answered to some degree: "In the case of the Jacks of Hearts, conspiracy was at the heart of the case, but the trouble was that the defendants never actually imitated or called themselves the Jacks of Hearts or any other kind of club." That's in the Antonov (2018) article linked on Elisabeth Dmitrieff. He (and one of Dmitrieff's Russian biographers, looks like) are skeptical of all three of the terrorists/hooding/bandits options, with good reason. It looks like the defendants were indeed involved in many crimes/frauds/pranks together (the word one uses may be dependant on your perspective), but that the concept of the "gang" itself was made up by the prosecution so that they could try them under conspiracy charges, which carry stiffer penalties and allow for a mass trial. I made changes to that section of the article on Dmitrieff but my browser crashed before I could send the edits, so I'll have to try again later. -- asilvering (talk) 20:55, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Please note that while copying or translating material from other Wikipedias is permitted, Wikipedia's licensing requires that proper attribution be given to the authors of the original article. There are three ways of doing this, spelled out in the Wikimedia Terms of Use sect. 7, and it approves the use of the edit summary to credit authors by providing a hyperlink to the original article in the edit summary. The suggested method given by Wikipedia's editing guideline for translated material is to include the following statement in the edit summary where you added translated material:

Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

If you are copying English-language content from another Wikimedia project, then the editing guideline for copied content suggests this:

Note also that this guideline derives from Wikimedia's Terms of Use, which are not optional, and cannot be ignored. No, it's not enough to do it on the Talk page; the talk page template is entirely optional, but it's definitely a nice thing to have it there. All copied and translated material must be credited to the original authors no matter what namespace you place them in, and that includes copying to your sandbox even if it never becomes an article. You do not have to go back to all of your original edits; the guideline already suggests how to handle that; see WP:RIA; I have done this for you at Clara Knecht, in this edit, for example.

Your modus operandi, based on what I see from your contributed translations, is first to copy over the entire, original French article, in the original French, to your sandbox, as in rev. 1082490103 of Sorella Epstein with the edit summary "new sandbox for translation Sorella Epstein", and then to follow up translating the article, bit by bit, as in rev. 1082572877 (summary: "translated lead from French") and 1082573919 (summary: "translated first section from French") at Sorella Epstein. It is the first of these, the "new sandbox" edit, that should have had attribution, because you copied text from one Wikimedia property covered by CC-BY-SA-3.0 to another; it was on that edit (rev. 1082490103) that should have had the following edit summary, or similar:

New sandbox for translation Sorella Epstein; copied content from the French article [[:fr:Sorella Epstein]]; see that page's history for attribution.

that would have satisfied the Wikimedia Terms of Use, using the language suggested at WP:CWW. At this point, you can fix the missing attribution by following WP:RIA, similarly to how I did it at Clara Knecht. Please let me know if you need help with this. I'm not at all sure my own attribution edits to your articles would be acceptable; it would be far better if you could add them yourself. I did in fact notice that a few of your articles had no talk page with the translation template and no interlanguage links in the LH column of the article itself. I added these where necessary, sometimes by making edits to Wikidata. As you appear to have translated articles more or less word for word, I think you need to follow the instructions under WP:RIA, simply adding a new edit with the necessary attribution. As far as I can see, your edit on User:Nattes à chat/Adélaïde Valentin worked out fine, the only problem is that Adélaïde Valentin has already been translated. Using the WP:CXT tool fixes a bunch of these automatically but breaks, omits, or does otherwise eccentric things to others. @Nattes à chat, if you haven't tried it for into-English translations before because the actual translation function doesn't work, it might be worth trying it with references in mind to see if you like it any better than fixing them all by hand. Wrt to some of the comments above: I do translations as well, and used to use CXT but no longer do because of too many problems. It's easy enough to build an article from scratch, especially if you start from a copy-paste model. Secondly, regarding translated references, you can put off translating references, while working on building and improving the article: have a look at Template:Lien web. I'm afraid the only translating I do is when error logs show a mistaken copy-paste of a non-English template. For example, enwiki's equivalent of fr:Modèle:Article is {{Cite journal}}; {{Article}} is unrelated (despite redirecting to {{La}}, which is definitely an article...) But you have other things you're doing, right? There's no rush for these, so there's no reason to take you or the hypothetical 24 other editors away from whatever else you might be doing. (In your case, this seems like WWII and Jewish history, which surely have an effectively infinite number of translatable articles still to go?) The only deadline is the WiR translation editathon, which you're not in - so I have no reason to assume you'd be interested in it, since it's not like WiR is a niche wikiproject, and this is the third month of the editathon. By the way, if you want to get into writing articles on the Paris Commune, you could do so at any time simply by translating a relevant article, and I'm sure WP:@ would love to have you! Hi there. I just started this page, Ligue de femmes Suisses contre l'alcoolisme, which has limited refs in English, but apparently several in French that are, unfortunately, only available as snippets to me. I think the article is fine as is, but if you wanted to consider creating the French version of it, you'll probably have additional sources available. No worries if you're working on other things or if you think the article doesn't meet FR-WP policy requirements. Really, just wanted to pop over and say hi and mention that I've created it.
