Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs
Thank you for your recent articles, including Rosette Wolczak, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:27, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Regarding Template:Did you know nominations/Rosette Wolczak, you need to add the hook - finish the "that..." sentence. Take a look at other noms at T:TDYK page. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:31, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Orphan is applicable because there are no articles linking to it, only internal wikipedia pages like the DYK nom our our talk pages. See . In other words, you should add mentions of (in form of blue links) of RW to some other pages which would be relevant. Regarding the DYK nom, you should blue link and bold RW name (again, look at other noms on that page). Glad you are joining our English community, I think there are many French-language topics that we need to translate to the English-speaking word (I am not a native speaker of English myself, and I do a lot of translations from Polish Wikipedia, too). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:00, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Nice article I saw at #wikiwomeninred. "DYK" has a rule about one "ref" to every paragraph (at least) ... can you add these please? Thanks Victuallers (talk) 08

DYK nomination of Rosette Wolczak
Hello! Your submission of Rosette Wolczak at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 22:28, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
DYK for Rosette Wolczak
On 3 June 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Rosette Wolczak, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that because she was arrested for indecent behavior, Rosette Wolczak died in Auschwitz aged 15? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rosette Wolczak. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Rosette Wolczak), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

- Thank you, encouragement is one of my topics (not my article, but I worded the DYK for it) ;) - I took the prize over from others who started it years before I even joined. Rosette is featured also on Portal:Germany, where I collect all DYK related to Germany. - Happy collaborations! Wikimania 2016: IdeaLab Workshops

Wikimania 2016 is almost here! Mjohnson (WMF) and I are running two workshops for IdeaLab during the conference, and you are invited to join us for either (or both!)
If you have a proposal or idea you are thinking about, and would like a space to work on it on your own or with others, please consider joining us for either the Thursday or Saturday sessions. We'll discuss a little about IdeaLab and how it works, and the rest of the time is space for idea building. You can also use this session to ask questions about Wikimedia Foundation grants that are available if your proposal or idea may need funding. Thanks, and see you at the conference! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:45, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- Dear I JethroBT (WMF) well maybe I will use the opportunity to draft the grant I have to write to continue the project next year! Our last workshop will be on the 28th of june, so were are still very busy indeed... I will be happy to meet you. I have met your colleagues Katy Love and Winifried last week during their chapter visit. Cheers, --Nattes à chat (talk) 18:53, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
Kenyan Community Currencies
For the programs in Kenya lots of articles can be found on this page: http://grassrootseconomics.org/media#news - you can also search google for more articles going all the way back to Eco-Pesa. Ng'ombeni-Pesa, Lindi-Pesa, Kangemi-Pesa, Gatina-Pesa and Balngla-Pesa all fall under what we call the Sarafu-Credit (a generic term for the type of Community Currencies here in Kenya). It would be great for some of this information to be out in the public and also in French! Thanks! Asante! Merci! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.139.225.218 (talk) 07:14, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!
| Thanks for signing up at Wikipedia:LaGuardia Community College/Translatathon April 2018. I appreciate your participation.
I had to remove you from the sign up sheet because you are a power wiki user. Especially with you editing Wikidata, the metrics you generate are probably going to be more than everyone else put together, so your score here will make the rest of the report challenging to interpret. This is a known problem with the meta:Programs & Events Dashboard, and it is unfair to you because it means that it is hard to include the contributions of experienced Wikipedia contributors. I expect you understand - you do outreach. We all would really appreciate anything you can do to support the event. Most of our French speakers here are of Haitian descent and we do not otherwise have French language support for this event. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:08, 25 April 2018 (UTC) |
- Hi @Blue Rasberry:, fine by me (am I really a power wiki user???), please let me know how me and the other 4 French editors who registered themselves as attendees on the wikiproject page can help best! I met three fabulous contributors of AfroCrowd and they invited me to participate, so I notified my community on les sans pagEs francophone project. Seems some of them got really interested, and having interwiki cooperation is an idea I really like. I asked on the talk page of the translatathon if we could include our witch map as working list too, but it is not really african american, so I did not want to interfere. --Nattes à chat (talk) 18:49, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- It is challenging for me to show the situation and even I do not know everything about how tracking works. at d:Special:Contributions/Nattes_à_chat your Wikidata log shows that 10 days ago you edited Wikidata. The amount of content changes which happen over seconds in Wikidata is uncommon for a couple of hours in Wikipedia, so this throws the event record off if anyone wants to see Wikipedia. I think in the future the tool will change to separate Wikipedia and Wikidata edits, but for now it mixes them. The report it was giving indicated that there were huge Wikidata edits beyond what anyone could expect to happen on Wikipedia. We need the Wikidata records but it is too much to show to the public as the event is starting.
- You signed in at the bottom of the page. That is enough - the event organizers will check all your contributions - Wikipedia and Wikidata - based on that. If anyone edits Wikidata during the event, that is fine.
- From today, now the the event is starting, tell anyone to sign in however they like, either by signing the bottom of the page or by joining the event dashboard as you did.
- I apologize for not being able to explain this better and show screenshots but I already removed your name. After the event you can check again and you will see how Wikidata dominates everything else in the report. Blue Rasberry (talk) 19:26, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- I understand dont worry! In fact the reason why there were so many wikidata edits it that i was entrering witches and geolocalizing their death place in order for them to appear on the map of persecuted witches! I dont usually do so many wikidata edits. I hope the event goes well, I've translated one article. If some people translate into French we could reread the articles (but I dont know where to look what has been edited. It's night time for me, I will soon be off to sleep. --Nattes à chat (talk) 20:32, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Event coordinator
Hi, the English Wikipedia recently created a new user permission for editors involved in off-wiki outreach work, event coordinator. This new permission allows users to mark accounts for confirmed for up to 10 days, and also allows them to create accounts for events without rate limits without some of the features of the account creator right that aren't used at edit-a-thons and other events. I have added the event coordinator permission to your account and removed the account creator permission, as you appear to have been using it mainly for outreach work.
This should have no noticeable impact on your ability to create accounts, and will give you the extra ability to temporarily confirm accounts if you need to. For more information, you can see the information page on the right, or you can ask me if you have any questions. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:09, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you @TonyBallioni:. It is true I mainly use it for outreach during editathons and events. What is a confirmed account? Another feature we might need woth this is the ability to get back drafts of deleted articles. Only admins can do it, and this is sometimes useful when articles are deleted when newbies copy-pasted a passage with author rights. It would allow them to rewrite corectly only the incriminated passage--Nattes à chat (talk) 17:41, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- The Wikimedia Foundation does not allow access to deleted content to users unless they pass an RfA or an RfA-equivalent for legal reasons. If someone needs deleted content, the best thing to do is contact the deleting administrator.Confirming an account just allows it to create new pages directly in mainspace, move pages (including drafts) to mainspace on your own, and to avoid captchas. This normally is attached automatically after 4 days (autoconfirmed). You can find out more about the right and how to use it at WP:EVC. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:54, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your answers, avoiding the captcha is very valuable! --Nattes à chat (talk) 21:51, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

Looking for help
Hi,
I was looking for some small help. I created a new article en:Kithaab-a play about women rights issues- which has been copy edited and is ready for translation in various languages. Looking for your possible help in translating the article en:Kithaab to your language. If you are unable to spare time yourself then may be you like to refer the same to some other translator.
Thanking you , with warm regards
Statement at arbitration request
Hi, I have modified your comment here so it's under a proper subheading. I think you may have misunderstood how the non party thing works. If you're a non party, it's intended that you replace the non party party part with your name and fill in your statement below. Each party or non-party gets their own subheading, and their comments are only under that subheading. Preferably, you should make a copy of the 'sample'/'template' on the bottom of the edit window before filling it in, that way it's there for anyone else to do do the same. Nil Einne (talk) 11:28, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you! Yes you are right, it was a misunderstanding. I am more familiar with the francophone Wikipedia! --Nattes à chat (talk) 09:16, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Narodnoye delo
In case you don't notice the changes on the GAR page: I broke Narodnoye delo into a separate article, since I think it ought to have one and at any rate that section was more about the paper than Elisabeth Dmitrieff. So far, writing Nikolai Utin, I've barely come across anything mentioning any women, even Olga, which is... well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that all the women get ignored, but nevertheless. (Surprise surprise, Dmitrieff's Swiss Dictionary of Biography article mentions Utin, but his doesn't mention her.) If you think you can find anything else on Dmitrieff and Narodnoye delo, I think that would be a really worthwhile addition. (Not in terms of the GA, just in general.) -- asilvering (talk) 21:37, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- I just went through and started to answer the questions. I have bought a few books on the history of the first international since to dig into this. There are two chapters concerning Narodnoe Delo in Woodford McClelland 's Revolutionnary Exiles, the russians in the first international and the Paris commune. It also describes Nicolas Utin (and Dmitrieff). i have under electronic format as well (makes it easier to search for text when you are contributing). For the moment it is the most precise book I have found for russian exiles in Geneva. Nattes à chat (talk) 01:02, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Excellent, thank you! I can get that one electronically as well. Fair warning, in case you haven't already noticed: handle this source with some care, as he has an obvious pro-Marxist slant (at the expense of populists/anarchists/liberals/etc) that complicates his discussion of people he clearly really, really wishes were Marxists. It's not just me: if you have jstor access you can find reviews identifying the same issue . -- asilvering (talk) 01:57, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you very useful ! I note although the two reviewa point to an unfair representation of MacClelland of the anarchist group in the first internaltional (or more precisely what would become the Bakounine anarrchist group) bith these articles still give credit to the documented personnal lives he describes. Dmitrieff was more on Utin's side at the time (and Marx) so I think we can trust the accounts, although we have hints in her later life that she took her distances with Marx (this is why she could perhaps join the Jack of heart group, but there is a lack of historic sources on this group. Were they terrorists, robin hoods or bandits ? Or a bit of the three? I would like more material on this but have not found it. I would love to have the photos of the trial too on commons (as Dmitrieff testifeid for her husband). I would also love to have photos of the Dmitrieff museum in Volok. For the moment I will concentrate on digging in Geneva what I can still find. Maybe we could get someone of ru-wp to look into this ? Nattes à chat (talk) 15:40, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- The anti-anarchist representation I am not so worried about, because it's so transparently obvious; I'm more cautious about anything that could be affected by the pro-Marxist slant, since he appears to want to cast many of these people as Marxists when really it looks like they have been more accurately "friends of Marx" or "interested in Marxism". On the facts of their lives (Dmitrieff visiting Marx in London, for eg) I see no reason to doubt him. Once he starts describing what they believe, or why they did various things, I become more skeptical.
- I don't think your "terrorists, Robin Hoods, or bandits" question can be answered, since it's always going to come down to us through interpretation by someone or other, unless someone manages to turn up a new cache of primary documents somewhere (unlikely). But I am really intrigued. I shouldn't look into it right now because I have other deadlines and I think work on the Jacks of Hearts can wait until the Elisabeth Dmitrieff GA review is done, but I'll see if I can turn up anything on them later this month.
- Asking someone on ru-wp for photos sounds like a good idea! I would love to see how she is presented there, especially since it seems like it will be a bit at odds with what her three Russian biographers have written. -- asilvering (talk) 19:41, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oh. Well actually it turns out the question can be answered to some degree: "In the case of the Jacks of Hearts, conspiracy was at the heart of the case, but the trouble was that the defendants never actually imitated or called themselves the Jacks of Hearts or any other kind of club." That's in the Antonov (2018) article linked on Elisabeth Dmitrieff. He (and one of Dmitrieff's Russian biographers, looks like) are skeptical of all three of the terrorists/hooding/bandits options, with good reason. It looks like the defendants were indeed involved in many crimes/frauds/pranks together (the word one uses may be dependant on your perspective), but that the concept of the "gang" itself was made up by the prosecution so that they could try them under conspiracy charges, which carry stiffer penalties and allow for a mass trial. I made changes to that section of the article on Dmitrieff but my browser crashed before I could send the edits, so I'll have to try again later. -- asilvering (talk) 20:55, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Anarchism

Hi Nattes à chat,
I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!
And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.
Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 04:12, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for reaching out to me. Glad to meet you ! On the francophone wikipedia we did extensive work last year on the Paris Commune for the 150 anniversary. A lot of biographies and subects related to the place of women in the Commune were created in French and I will translating these step by step. For example, I worked on Elisabeth Dmitrieff . Nattes à chat (talk) 09:47, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes! Some of the articles I had started were translated as part of that effort, which was exciting. I had bought several books with the intent of expanding the Commune's coverage here but never got around to it. Looking forward to your translations! czar 17:24, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- I think Alix Payen and Adélaïde Valentin): are worth translating, as these are featured article on fr-wp.

Translation from French Wikipedia requires attribution
Hi Nattes à chat, thanks for your translations from French Wikipedia. I noticed that many of your translations fail to properly credit the authors of the original French articles. As this is a requirement based on Wikipedia's licensing requirements, I wanted to make you aware of what the rules are about this.
Please note that while copying or translating material from other Wikipedias is permitted, Wikipedia's licensing requires that proper attribution be given to the authors of the original article. There are three ways of doing this, spelled out in the Wikimedia Terms of Use sect. 7, and it approves the use of the edit summary to credit authors by providing a hyperlink to the original article in the edit summary. The suggested method given by Wikipedia's editing guideline for translated material is to include the following statement in the edit summary where you added translated material:
Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.
If you are copying English-language content from another Wikimedia project, then the editing guideline for copied content suggests this:
Copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution.
Note also that this guideline derives from Wikimedia's Terms of Use, which are not optional, and cannot be ignored. (Please also note, that if you do translations in the other direction (en ⟶ fr), that the Wikimedia terms of use apply to all Wikipedias; see fr:Aide:Crédit d'auteurs, fr:Wikipédia:Citation et réutilisation du contenu de Wikipédia for how French Wikipedia explains this.)
Going forward, please be sure that all of your translations (and additions of copied material) are properly attributed. Note that this isn't limited to just article space; if you translate into Draft space, or your sandbox, or your user talk page, the same considerations apply. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 19:17, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Attribution has been made on the talk pages of the articles once there were published in the main space. It is true though I did not make attribution on my many sandboxes. @Ipigott: can you help me with this ? I can not go back to all my single edits, I don't know how to do that. I thought it was enough to just notify on the talk page the content had been translated from the French article 22:58, 20 April 2022 (UTC) Nattes à chat (talk) 22:58, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- No, it's not enough to do it on the Talk page; the talk page template is entirely optional, but it's definitely a nice thing to have it there. All copied and translated material must be credited to the original authors no matter what namespace you place them in, and that includes copying to your sandbox even if it never becomes an article. You do not have to go back to all of your original edits; the guideline already suggests how to handle that; see WP:RIA; I have done this for you at Clara Knecht, in this edit, for example.
- Your modus operandi, based on what I see from your contributed translations, is first to copy over the entire, original French article, in the original French, to your sandbox, as in rev. 1082490103 of Sorella Epstein with the edit summary "new sandbox for translation Sorella Epstein", and then to follow up translating the article, bit by bit, as in rev. 1082572877 (summary: "translated lead from French") and 1082573919 (summary: "translated first section from French") at Sorella Epstein. It is the first of these, the "new sandbox" edit, that should have had attribution, because you copied text from one Wikimedia property covered by CC-BY-SA-3.0 to another; it was on that edit (rev. 1082490103) that should have had the following edit summary, or similar:
New sandbox for translation Sorella Epstein; copied content from the French article [[:fr:Sorella Epstein]]; see that page's history for attribution.
- that would have satisfied the Wikimedia Terms of Use, using the language suggested at WP:CWW. At this point, you can fix the missing attribution by following WP:RIA, similarly to how I did it at Clara Knecht. Please let me know if you need help with this. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 23:31, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Ok thank you so I will follow this DIFF and make sure to do proper attribution in the future, thank you for your patience !Nattes à chat (talk) 23:37, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- No worries. Note: that DIFF is only for fixing articles already copied/translated that didn't have attribution. You might want to read WP:Dummy edit first for those cases; it will help you figure out how to add an edit summary to the article history. In the future for new translations, don't follow that DIFF, follow the suggested text listed in my original post, or just copy it directly from WP:TFOLWP. Mathglot (talk) 23:43, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

- First of all, Nattes à chat, I would like to thank you very sincerely for all the contributions from several different languages you have made in our translation contest. I'm not at all sure my own attribution edits to your articles would be acceptable; it would be far better if you could add them yourself. I did in fact notice that a few of your articles had no talk page with the translation template and no interlanguage links in the LH column of the article itself. I added these where necessary, sometimes by making edits to Wikidata. As you appear to have translated articles more or less word for word, I think you need to follow the instructions under WP:RIA, simply adding a new edit with the necessary attribution. As far as I can see, your edit on User:Nattes à chat/Adélaïde Valentin worked out fine, the only problem is that Adélaïde Valentin has already been translated. Please let me know if you need further assistance.--Ipigott (talk) 08:36, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you @Ipigott:! I will do my best to correct the articles and to follow the rules. As the translation tool works fine on fr-wp I was not used to applying those manually. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Nattes à chat (talk) 09:04, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I know the translation tool is used widely for translations out of English but the consensus on the EN wiki was that it was leading to far too many unrevised machine translations which simply did not meet basic standards. I hope you don't have to spend too much time on tidying things up. I'm looking forward to many more translated articles.--Ipigott (talk) 09:15, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

- Nattes à chat, you've done a really good job in repairing insufficient attribution in earlier edits with copied or translated content. All of the articles you listed above are now properly attributed according to our licensing requirements. I'm pinging User:Diannaa, who is an expert on such things and who I sometimes ask for help when there's a problem situation involving copyright or licensing issue, but this time, it's just to let her know that you've done a great job and all is well, and hopefully this will put a smile on her face. Your addition of copy and translation attribution is really appreciated. Keep up the good work! Mathglot (talk) 19:30, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Paris Commune translations
Hi again, Nattes à chat! I see you've translated Women in the Paris Commune, which I was working on, and that I accidentally scooped Adélaïde Valentin while you were translating that one! We should probably co-ordinate. I'm most of the way through fr:Céleste Hardouin at the moment. I have some other in-progress translations listed on my userpage, but I haven't got terribly far with any of them (they're mostly there as a to-do list). I'd be happy if you wanted to do any of those, but would appreciate a heads-up if so, so I don't go back to work on them. I also started a stub on Louise Neckbecker, which isn't on fr-wiki yet, if you feel like dropping anything into that. Is there anything you're working on or that you have your eye on that I should avoid? -- asilvering (talk) 23:31, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- Same for me for "Légions des fédérées" ! Yep I had the same idea about coordination.
- I am planning after Women in the commune de Paris to do Alix Payen which is a featured article on fr-wp.
- Should we make a list somewhere ?
- Basically I am working from this (I participated last year to the project) : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:%C2%AB_Les_150_ans_de_la_Commune_%C2%BB_:_mois_de_contributions/Suggestions#Biographies

- Ok, I went through the list of communardes at that link, and for convenience, these are the ones that still don't have an en-wiki article (or if they do, it's not linked through wikidata...):
- fr:Victorine Gorget => Nattes à chat
- fr:Marie La Cécilia
- fr:Marie Mercier (communarde)
- fr:Rose Caubet
- fr:Mina Puccinelli
- fr:Florence Van de Walle
- fr:Anne-Marie Ménand
- fr:Marguerite Lachaise
- fr:Maria Verdure
- fr:Léontine Suétens
- fr:Eulalie Papavoine
- fr:Joséphine Marchais
- fr:Malvina Poulain
- fr:Marie Bediet
- Lots still to go! But also, easily doable during this WiR editathon. -- asilvering (talk) 06:55, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oh hah, you edited your post as I was writing this one. Well, nothing wrong with having the en-wiki list and the fr-wiki list handy in the same place, so I'll leave this one here. -- asilvering (talk) 06:57, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- yeah ! Choose the ones you want to translate ! To bring anarchy in the process we could envisage both translating parts of an article and submit it "together" too, that would be funny too :).
- Are there parts of the Women in the Paris Commune that you trranslated and that I have not ? This could be added (I am not finished yet). Nattes à chat (talk) 07:20, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- I hope you're doing well! I've had a busy two months, but I just finished Céleste Hardouin and I'm on to Léontine Suétens next. -- asilvering (talk) 01:11, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

- Please can anyone translate the references? English Wikipedia has an {{Article}} template, but it's for a different purpose and not for citations. Thanks, Certes (talk) 21:35, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Certes Got them, I think. -- asilvering (talk) 00:41, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Certes are you referring to the Women in the Paris Commune ? I still have refs to correct there, I know. Nattes à chat (talk) 09:51, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, but I think they're fixed now. The problem is that templates like fr:Template:Article have different names in English Wikipedia. Certes (talk) 11:52, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Using the WP:CXT tool fixes a bunch of these automatically but breaks, omits, or does otherwise eccentric things to others. @Nattes à chat, if you haven't tried it for into-English translations before because the actual translation function doesn't work, it might be worth trying it with references in mind to see if you like it any better than fixing them all by hand. I think it saves me time and effort, but it's probably a bit "your mileage may vary". I do still have to fix a lot of them afterwards. -- asilvering (talk) 15:11, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

I would request that this sort of discussion take place at a more central forum, such as WT:FRANCE, where other interested editors could find it and participate in the discussions, and perhaps assist in the effort. (Wherever it resides, it should be linked by other relevant projects, such as WT:WOMEN, WT:BIOG, WT:Women in red, WT:WMNHIST, etc.) It's not too late to hat this discussion, and continue it at WT:FRANCE; see {{Discussion moved to}} / {{Discussion moved from}}. Adding @Certes and Asilvering:. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 02:39, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Wrt to some of the comments above: I do translations as well, and used to use CXT but no longer do because of too many problems. It's easy enough to build an article from scratch, especially if you start from a copy-paste model. Secondly, regarding translated references, you can put off translating references, while working on building and improving the article: have a look at Template:Lien web. Mathglot (talk) 02:41, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi at the moment I am involved in the month of pride on the francophone wikipedia. I note the request to have the talk on WT:FRANCE though. My next step will be to translate Alix Payen because it is a labelled article on fr-wp but I dont know when I will be able to do it :). I am mostly active on the francophone wikipedia actually. Nattes à chat (talk) 10:28, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'm afraid the only translating I do is when error logs show a mistaken copy-paste of a non-English template. For example, enwiki's equivalent of fr:Modèle:Article is {{Cite journal}}; {{Article}} is unrelated (despite redirecting to {{La}}, which is definitely an article...) Certes (talk) 11:07, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Certes is there a way to get that to automatically be changed to Cite journal? Right now fr-wiki's version of Cite web works that way, which is pretty convenient. I think it's Anomiebot that comes by to do it. -- asilvering (talk) 21:01, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- That would be nice, but I think it's a question for Anomie or anyone else interested in enhancing the bot. For pages with multiple untranslated refs, I run a very rough and ready script that does the bulk of the translation but the output needs tidying by hand. Certes (talk) 21:47, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- The
{{lien web}}to{{cite web}}works because we can create the former as a wrapper and mark it with{{Subst only|auto=yes}}. But that won't work for{{Article}}as that name is already in use for another purpose. Anomie⚔ 22:39, 29 June 2022 (UTC)- Ah, bummer. But thanks very much for the explanation! -- asilvering (talk) 00:23, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

- Frankly, I'm not sure why we would! It's already being done as part of a WiR editathon. We found each other because we were working in the same topic area; I think we'd have noticed if someone else was also working on these translations. -- asilvering (talk) 20:16, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- No doubt. Would you have noticed, though, if twenty-five other able, willing, and eager bilingual editors were *not* working on these translations? I'm potentially one of the twenty-five, but I don't know who the other twenty-four are, but they could certainly be of help. Mathglot (talk) 22:55, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- But you have other things you're doing, right? There's no rush for these, so there's no reason to take you or the hypothetical 24 other editors away from whatever else you might be doing. (In your case, this seems like WWII and Jewish history, which surely have an effectively infinite number of translatable articles still to go?) The only deadline is the WiR translation editathon, which you're not in - so I have no reason to assume you'd be interested in it, since it's not like WiR is a niche wikiproject, and this is the third month of the editathon. By the way, if you want to get into writing articles on the Paris Commune, you could do so at any time simply by translating a relevant article, and I'm sure WP:@ would love to have you! (We are a somewhat niche wikiproject, with a list of articles that need translating, many from French!) -- asilvering (talk) 00:22, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Problems in connection with Les sans pagEs on the FR wiki
In the face of the problems currently facing Les sans pagEs on the FR wiki, allow me to address my full support for the excellent work you have been doing to reduce the gender gap on the French and other language versions of Wikipedia for so many years. I sincerely hope that once these issues have been sorted out, you will be able to continue as an enthusiastic editor as well as executive director of the French project.--Ipigott (talk) 06:34, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Dear @Ipigott: thank you for your kind words which go directly to my heart. I do hope I can continue the work initiated throughout these years to reduce the gender gap, make wikipedia more inclusive :). Thanks for your help here ! Nattes à chat (talk) 23:18, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:42, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Ligue de femmes Suisses contre l'alcoolisme
Hi there. I just started this page, Ligue de femmes Suisses contre l'alcoolisme, which has limited refs in English, but apparently several in French that are, unfortunately, only available as snippets to me. I think the article is fine as is, but if you wanted to consider creating the French version of it, you'll probably have additional sources available. No worries if you're working on other things or if you think the article doesn't meet FR-WP policy requirements. Really, just wanted to pop over and say hi and mention that I've created it.
