As a follow-up to that question, you have added various categories about religious affiliation to a number of bio articles without any sourced statement in the article to back it up. Please understand I am not a zealot who is trying to strike all references to religion from any bio article. I simply want Wikipedia policies, in this case WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:CITE, to be followed. So I am politely asking you to stop adding categories to Wikipedia articles, especially bio articles, that are not backed up by a statement in the article that cites a reliable source. Thank you. I would strongly suggest not using an LLM (AI) to formulate and/or present arguments. Wikipedia — as I'm sure you're aware — can be quite complex and has layers and depth to its policies that most AI tools (at the moment) cannot fully comprehend. For instance, the mere existence of a source like Oxford Mail does not necessarily take us to notability; WP:LASTING must also be considered.

I think it's a step towards notability, but I hesitate to affirm it as a "strong indicator of notability." Per WP:ATHLETE, a footballer is presumptively notable if they’ve played in a fully professional league or have senior international caps. Sporting Club Jacksonville’s new USL Super League is professional but it’s just launched, and Brown’s arrival was communicated via club channels and the secondary source - Florida Times-Union -- is essentially a passing mention. You may also run into some pushback via WP:ROUTINE.

League/club websites and university websites are primary sources for this subject. Local papers can indeed contribute to notability as secondaries, however.

Her collegiate awards, while certainly impressive, are not generally of encyclopedic notability.

No worries, I completely understand your position. I'm sorry if I am coming-off as overly picky, myself, and I certainly bear no ill-will towards you or your efforts. I actually commend you for going out of your way to support your local teams.

So, other articles existing (or not existing) or their content (or lack thereof) has no bearing on any other other articles. We refer to this principle as "WP:OTHERTHINGSEXIST." Essentially, each article must be judged on their own merits. So, when someone asks "well, why does X exist," sometimes the best response is "it shouldn't; that should be nominated for deletion, as well, but we're discussing this article right now." I 100% understand your frustration, as I have been in this situation several times. It's not fair... but it's not personal, either.

All that being said... I think, ultimately, especially with her playing on a professional team, we probably have enough for notability. I'm still a little skeptical of the sourcing, and we definitely need to see additional secondary sources added when-possible, but I think her playing in a professional league probably takes us to notability. With her professional career starting, more secondary sources should start providing WP:SIGCOV that may be added. Cheers

Hi there. Thanks for addressing both points. I have no doubt that you were using LLM tools in good faith, and I commend you for wanting to expand the knowledge base on a new league. It was just a recurring theme I've noticed on some recent article creations.

As for footballer notability, this was previously the case. Anyone who played two or three minutes in any one of these leagues were automatically notable, but this resulted in a huge amount of one-sentence stubs on obscure former footballers, say, with one or two appearances in the J3 League. There was a backlash from the wider Wiki community, and the guidelines were tightened in 2022. Since then, WP:NSPORT was deprecated and all sportspeople were required to meet WP:GNG through in-depth coverage from independent, reliable sources. It's a little more relaxed for sportspeople, as WP:SPORTBASIC says that even one piece of in-depth coverage can be enough to establish notability, as opposed to the two or three quality sources needed for most living people. I was just doing research with the NWSL and comparing their Player of the Month/Team of the Month page to the USL Super League (which is supposed to be on the same level as NWSL) and thinking, "Gosh, that's a lot of red. Hi Jagfan71, nice work on your articles. Just a reminder that a "hometown" in a player's bio should not be taken to mean a "birthplace". Personally, my hometown is 350 miles away from my place of birth. Unless a source explicitly says they were born there, we should not be guessing a player's birthplace. Occasionally, their college bios will give their actual birthplace down in the personal section. See the college bio of Caden Pinnick for example. While his hometown is listed as Loomis, California, the personal section says he was actually born in Denver. I go more in detail in this thread.
