January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Just a quick note on one of your recent edits, I noticed you included a bare URL. For consistency Wikipedia usually formats references a specific way. This beginner guide makes this easy, Referencing for beginners. If you’re still not sure how to convert one of your links into a proper wiki <ref>, just paste it here and I’ll show you. About your questions, if you’re seeing misinformation about animals in Asia, the best way to fix it is to find a solid source first like field guides, news articles, journal papers, museums/universities, IUCN, etc, then edit the statement to match what the source says and cite it. If you tell me one example article and what claim looks wrong, I can help you figure out exactly what to change. And for writing new articles, the easiest way is to draft it in your sandbox first Help:Userspace draft and Help:Your_first_article, make sure the topic is Notable, and build the article around the sources before submitting the draft. To save your sandbox, make sure you are on the edit tab of your sandbox page. After writing or making changes in the text box, scroll to the bottom. Click the blue button that says "Publish changes" to save your work. Using the "Show preview" button first is a good way to check your edits before posting them. To publish it, you'll need to use the Articles for Creation process. Double check that your topic is notable and supported by the references. Then, submit your sandbox draft through the Articles for Creation submission page, where a someone will review it. Also make sure to bookmark that AfC page, and check it every once and a while. To create a new Wikipedia article, first make sure your topic meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines by verifying it is covered in multiple reliable, independent sources. Then, draft the article in your user sandbox or the Articles for Creation page. Write the draft in a neutral tone, cite all facts to your sources using <ref> tags, and then submit it through the AfC process where a reviewer will assess it for approval. Hi, Wikipedia linked me to your profile as a mentor, thanks a lot for the help! I believe i made a bad edit that i am unsure how to correct properly. While the reference is valid, i have since learned that the author got some context wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:German_battleship_Bismarck#c-Parsecboy-20260302204000-Someone4125-20260302182900

So while the basic statement (He radioed in the Bismarcks location) is correct, the author falsely stated that that was the cause for the British deployment and as such, responsible for the sinking. This part is not mentioned in the article, but anyone looking up the reference will read it.

I have a better source, the official history of the SOE (Mackenzies "The secret history of SOE") that i would replace it with.

But i dont know what to write in the edit description. Linking the post above explaining what is wrong with the source seems excessive, especially as that is not the part i am citing the book for.

I would also be removing a reference that validates the claim the page makes, that he radioed in Bismarcks location. Can i just do that? Shouldnt i instead just add a second reference?

2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

JTtheOG was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.

Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.
