GCatholic.org is an nonprofit organization the provides comprehensive information about the Catholic Church[1][2][3] via its online database of bishops and dioceses of the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Churches. The website is not officially sanctioned by the Church. It is run as a private project by Gabriel Chow, journalist for Salt + Light Television, in Toronto. It also provides information about the performance of the Catholic Church itself in different countries and territories and provides biographical information on current and former bishops of each diocese, such as dates of birth, ordination, and (where applicable) death. When created, the site name was Giga-Catholic Information due to the fact that there are around 1 billion Catholics in the world (billion = giga).[4] It is used as a source for information on Catholic bishops and diocese, current and historical, by various news organizations[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] and authors.

Orange County California
I saw that you did a few edits to Orange County California. I have some time and wanted to clean it up. I started by working on the Demographics section. I took out the 1980-1990 Census data from the race table as that looks to be pretty dated. I pulled numbers from the 2020 Census P1 and P2 table for some narrative outside of the tables. - Hello Chrispounds, Looks good although I would leave the 1980 and 1990 data in the table since it shows the progression of the ethnic makeup of the county by numbers and %. Several other editors are adding the 1980-2020 tables to various cities and counties. Also please keep the same format (left to right): the format took a while to get a consensus on; hopefully we should be able to automate by the 2030 census. - FakeHouses Chrispounds That would be great. I use mail merge from excel to word to set up the standard 3 or 5 year racial/ethnic data but I still have to manually copy from the census page. There is a lot of useful info that we can use regarding all sorts of stats. I like the tables since it shows progression over time. - I will undo my edits to the table and put the columns back in, although stylistically I would prefer the table to be smaller and then show the shift in ethnic percentage with a stacked bar chart with 5 columns for 1980-2020. If we want to get fancier with a Demographics of Orange County page, I certainly would be in favor of helping there and building that out after getting more work done on the Main OC page.
- For the demographics, is there a template or a model page we might aspire to? Demographics of Los Angeles County is okay but only covers ACS 2023 and 2000 Census.
- I do know how to pull raw census data and believe I even cited it correctly. It has been 15+ years since I made a table from scratch here so if you can throw me a crutch or pointers, I would appreciate it. Chrispounds (talk) 16:01, 3 July 2025 (UTC)

- @Chrispounds I'm not aware of either of those websites; I've been using the US Census Bureau API, along the lines of

- The Virginia Census archive was pulling up a error in the references a few version back. The IPUMS data is for the deep archival stuff--the Census does not have pre 1950 data see https://www.census.gov/about/history.html under Availability of Census records at the bottom. IPUMS does not look to offer direct data like the census, but I just needed the total county size by year from 1890 - present which was relatively easy to pull. I'm not sure I am going to pull that much census data beyond what Orange County needs, so I'm going let the API's have a REST for now. I can see how industrial extraction and URL citation would be SO MUCH BETTER this way. When we make the Demographics of the OC page, I will jump in. Chrispounds (talk) 22:39, 3 July 2025 (UTC)

This article is a bit silly...
Caribou, California. "As of the 2020 United States Census, the only person living there is a 5 to 9 years old boy." I doubt that's true. That's up from a population of zero in 2010 and zero in 2000. What should we do with this article, delete it maybe? FakeHouses (talk) 03:51, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- According to the 2020 census, there is one, unoccupied, housing unit. However I looked it up on Google Maps and it's the location of "PG&E Caribou Camp". It seems to be company housing. It is next to a PG&E dam and powerhouse. Does that count as a populated place? FakeHouses (talk) 03:59, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Well, the census still treats it as such. It looks relatively old. Perhaps people live there for stints where they are not listing Caribou as their permanent residence. Or there is a historical reason for including it. Caribou looks as if it is where workers at the power plant live but likely not long enough to claim it as their residence. The Census seems to have a good number of CDPs that are quite small in population. They are supposed to be communities with some charecteristics of being town-like (common identity of its residents, general store, school...etc). We might run into problems if we start deleting CDPs that the census keeps alive for some reason or another. Usually they flip to being ghost towns rather than disappear. East Marianna, Pennsylvania
Hi, I noticed you created this article today. Is this really a separate town from Marianna, Pennsylvania? Looking at the map, the addresses of the buildings in "East Marianna" all appear to be in the town of Marianna (e.g., the Marianna Community Public Library is in "East Marianna"). Just because it was designated a CDP doesn't mean we should necessarily have a separate article about it (see particularly WP:GEOLAND on this). The census only releatively recently created a CDP here, and they sometimes do this for reasons of their own, that have nothing to do with there being a "new" town/city/village there. It may be more appropriate to merge this article to Marianna, Pennsylvania. FOARP (talk) 14:44, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello User:FOARP. True, I occassionally see discussion over including CDPs as separate pages on wikipedia although usually those with very small populations. The US Census defines CDPS as "a statistical geography representing closely settled, unincorporated communities that are locally recognized and identified by name" so I generally default to all of them being notable. They are not towns or cities (as they are unincorporated) although they are distinct communities (see https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/bas/information/cdp.html for a nice synopsis indicating why CDPs are created). It is also my understanding that they are created in conjunction with the county government so it is defined as a distinct community by the local authorities as well (generally via the decennial Participant Statistical Areas Program PSAP). In this case, East Marianna appears to be distinct from the incorporated town of Marianna as it is separated by a river and is in a valley while Marianna is on a plateau (see google maps ). It also seems to have been around for a while (see East Marianna, Washington County, Pennsylvania, February 1927 Penn State Digital Libraries) I generally focus on racial and ethnic demographics of communities with several counterparts adding other census information. The plan is to automate this more for the 2030 census. At the moment, I cannot add population data since the census website is closed. Since you are on this List, if you are interested, here is a catalogue of 30 books that SBL Press (Society of Biblical Literature) made Free to download in PDF on this link: https://www.sbl-site.org/sbl-press/browse-books/ancient-near-east-monographs/ One is an older Israel Finkelstein book from 2013. Other topics include ancient Israel, Judah, Egypt, etc...that you may be interested in. Their publication dates range from 2008 to 2025. Sadly, almost all new academic books are very expensive today and my main interest is in Ancient Egypt. But I did save the Finkelstein book on my computer. There is also a 2018 publication on the archaeology and history of 8th century ancient Judah.
