Whilst we are thankful for your contributions, (I was going to correct you yesterday but I forgot) if I’m not mistaken(it might have not been you) but if it’s you, you made a comment in an AFD initiated by DGG which indirectly implied you presumed DGG didn’t perform a before search, whilst Its no rule AFAIK, perhaps just good ol’ etiquette, it comes off as rather rude to imply a sysop or any editor who bares the NPP emblem did not perform a before search. If you remain underwhelmed by the works of sysops and new page reviewers, you are more than welcome to RFA here or in the very least attend NPP academy and apply here for NPR rights and let’s see if you can pass the former or be granted the latter. Thanks for your note Celestina007; apologies if my question sounded as though it was questioning the depth of the nominator's WP:BEFORE. When an AfD isn't obvious and the nomination doesn't include sources, I find it's useful to ask for the nominator's thoughts on the sources they looked at because it often clarifies the discussion and helps the collaborative process of AfD. For example, it worked well at this AfD. I'll consider ways to phrase the question that sound more friendly and don't accidentally imply the nominator didn't do full diligence during WP:BEFORE, which is always a time-intensive process! Please do not add {{citation needed}} tags for claims pertaining to the plot points of fictional works. The works are themselves already the most reliable possible sources for their own plot points. Hi, the material I tagged is making a claim "pertaining to the plot points of fictional works", as you say. "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution" (WP:VERIFY). Nope. You are fundamentally misunderstanding the policy. The fictional work IS THE SOURCE for its own fictional content. It is physically impossible for any source to be a better source for what a fictional work contains than the fictional work itself. If you want to verify the material, you already have been provided with the sources to check, namely watch the matierials already cited: the films Le Cercle Rouge (1970), The Hustler (1961), Deadfall (1993), and Vivre sa vie (1962), and the television shows The Rifleman S4E10 (1961), Navillra S1E3 (2021), and Outlander S6E1 (2014). If you really want to, you can build up rather reundant citation templates to cite each of these works, but no one is obligated to do that work for you, and someone might even remove them later as unnecessary clutter.  — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼  02:46, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

I disagree that citation templates are redundant clutter: they contain more information, such as metadata that can be improved over time. Fundamentally, WP:V is policy, and is quite clear: "it is satisfied by providing an inline citation". FYI, I did an AfD. I consider it very unusual for two new page reviewers to both decide that an article fails all notability, and their decisions are reverted by a less experienced user without first attempting to reach a concensus. Ldm1954 (talk) 20:07, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi Ldm1954, I appreciate the feedback. I wonder what process you think I should have followed? My understanding is that AFD is the appropriate venue for gaining consensus around whether an article should be in main space or not. I also see drafts promoted out of AfC regularly by non-reviewers, although perhaps those actions are generally 'improper' as well. Thanks, Suriname0 (talk) 21:52, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Anyone can approve at AfC, assuming they have read the chaos of notability rules (which they sometimes don't). WP:NPR is an extra layer of review. An editor has to demonstrate that they both know and have actively participated in AfD, AfC as well as general procedural issues. This review applies to all articles either moved to main directly, or via AfC.

A NPR editor can:

1. Approve
2. Tag for issues such as notability, lack of references etc so these can be approved.
3. Do a PROD
4. Draftify for improvements so it can be reviewed again at AfC
5. Nominate to AfD

Those are in order of severity. You chose to over-ride two experienced editors; @Thilsebatti has more experience and rights than I do. What you could (should?) have done is explain why you felt one or both of us should change our review, pinging us on the article talk page. WP works by concensus, and if you made a good argument we would listen. As it stands you have made extra work for volunteer editors. Ldm1954 (talk) 22:33, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

I removed it because I went looking and couldn't find a better source! Probably a good sign we shouldn't cover the information on Wikipedia, since it hasn't been published in a reliable source. Hey! I was editing the articles for Zohran Mamdani and Saikat Chakrabarti tonight. For the latter article, it looks like someone (probably the campaign) keeps trying to add a headshot that comes from their media kit? Good catch at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Saikat Headshot 2025.jpg). I looked at the media kit and page says "All photos are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License" now. Seems kosher for an upload? Idk if they changed it or what. The headshot from the media kit was uploaded and deleted at least 4 times on Commons! I wasn't sure if it was people from the campaign, because they also refused to respond to any messages, which was weird... Yes, that license release on the MediaKit page is new. Hello Suriname0, this was part of a series of blocks of everyone involved who had continued reverting after it became clear that it was an edit war at Feeding Our Future, but you had made only two reverts and could simply have been warned instead. Thanks for following up! Sort of/not really; since I've asked this question, there are some merge helper JavaScript extensions that have been created, and in general this has been discussed a lot recently at some of the RfCs about running merge proposals at AfD instead of on article Talk pages. Mostly I realized that updating the merge tags just doesn't matter at all, and almost no one does it correctly, so it's not just me. Suriname0 (talk) 21:34, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

The first clue came when I clicked the ISSN, and then in WorldCat the journal name. WorldCat shows Food Studies is available in a very large number of unremarkable college libraries. When places like Kalamazoo Valley Community College Library have a journal, it usually isn't because they have a print subscription, but because they get it electronically through one or more of the general databases.

In WorldCat, you can click the borrow button to go to a specific library's catalog, and look around to see if it says which database they get it from. The access journal button on Kalamazoo's catalog entry shows they have it via EBSCO and ProQuest I actually skipped that step. Based on experience I just searched three collections in WP:TWL that I thought most likely for that kind of content: EBSCO, Gale Academic, and ProQuest. ProQuest was the first result that came back. It was part science, part art, and part brute force.

Other volunteers at WP:RX might have started with a search for the article title on Google Scholar, which would also have revealed that it's on ProQuest. Enjoy! --Worldbruce (talk) 17:44, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
