Requests for permissions

This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access.

Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups".

Requests for permissions are archived regularly; please see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Archive for an index of past requests.

Permissions

Handled here

  • Account creator (add request · view requests): The account creator flag is granted to users who are active in the request an account process. The flag removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24 hour period. It also allows users to make accounts with names similar to other accounts. The account creator flag is only given to users who participate in the ACC process and may be removed without notice should a user's participation in the account creation process cease.
  • Autopatrolled (add request · view requests): The autopatrolled flag is granted to users who are active in the creation of new articles. This tool is granted so their creations are auto patrolled in Special:NewPages. Unlike other requests, any user may nominate an editor for Autopatrolled, even without that user's consent. A user who wishes to have this flag generally should have created at least 25 articles and must be trusted, experienced, and must have demonstrated they are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, especially WP:BLP and Wikipedia:Notability.
  • AutoWikiBrowser (add request · view requests): AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated MediaWiki editor for Microsoft Windows, designed to make tedious repetitive tasks quicker and easier. It is essentially a browser that automatically opens up a new page when the last is saved. When set to do so, it suggests some changes (typically formatting) that are generally meant to be incidental to the main change. Please read the rules of use and registration requirements on the main page before requesting permission. This is not a true user right, but access needs to be granted by administrators just like other permissions. If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. Users with under 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits are rarely approved. You will need to give a reason for wanting AWB access.
  • Confirmed (add request · view requests): The confirmed flag may be granted to new users who have not yet hit the threshold for autoconfirmed status. These are users who have not had both 10 edits and 4 days experience. People with this flag can upload files and edit semi-protected pages before hitting the autoconfirmed flag. Users requesting this flag must indicate clearly why they should be exempted from the customary confirmation period.
  • Event coordinator (add request · view requests): The event coordinator user right allows editors to create multiple new accounts, and to temporarily confirm accounts so that they can create new articles.
  • Extended confirmed (add request · view requests): The extended confirmed flag is normally automatically added to accounts after 500 edits and 30 days, but may be added to legitimate alternate accounts of users that already have this access. The flag allows users to edit pages under extended confirmed protection.
  • File mover (add request · view requests): The file mover user right is intended to allow users experienced in working with files to rename them, subject to policy, with the ease that autoconfirmed users already enjoy when renaming Wikipedia articles.
  • Mass message sender (add request · view requests): Mass message sender enables users to send messages to multiple users at once. This flag is given to users who have made requests for delivery in the past, clearly showing an understanding of the guidance for use.
  • New page reviewer (add request · view requests): The new page reviewer user right allows users to mark pages as patrolled and use the page curation toolbar. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
  • Page mover (add request · view requests): The page mover user right allows users experienced in working with article names to move them, subject to policy, without leaving behind a redirect. They may also move all subpages when moving the parent page(s). General guidelines include making 3,000 edits and 6 months of editing history. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
  • Pending changes reviewer (add request · view requests): The reviewer flag is granted to users who are experienced enough with Wikipedia editing and its policies for contributing to the process of reviewing articles placed under pending changes.
  • Rollback (add request · view requests): Rollback enables users to remove vandalism much more quickly and efficiently than by undoing it. Users who do not demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes capable vandalism fighting, either because they have no or little history of doing so, or show a poor ability to discern between good and bad faith edits will not be granted this right. Also, it is unlikely that editors with under 200 mainspace edits will have their request granted. For a more detailed explanation of rollback and information about when it is appropriate to use the tool, see Wikipedia:Rollback. For information about the technical details of the feature, see here.
  • Template editor (add request · view requests): The template editor flag allows users to edit protected templates and Lua modules. General guidelines for granting include making at least 1,000 edits overall (with at least 150 to templates or modules), being a registered user for over a year, and having a record of successfully proposing significant edits to several protected templates. Users should demonstrate proficiency with template syntax and an understanding of the need for caution when editing heavily-used templates.
  • Temporary account IP viewer (add request · view requests): Temporary account IP viewers are able to view the IP address information associated with temporary accounts.

Several permissions are requested and handled elsewhere:

Review and removal of permissions

The requests for permissions process is not used to review or remove user rights:

The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight permissions are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.

Process

Requestors

To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting the permission.

Administrators

Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.

Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{done}} or {{not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here. See User:MusikBot/PermClerk#Archiving for more information on archiving functionality.

Other editors

Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.

A limited exception to this is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.

Autopatrolled

User:Umais Bin Sajjad

I have created over 150 mainspace articles (primarily in the area of Film and TV). While some of my earlier creations were deleted, the majority of my recent articles remain live, and I have refined my sourcing and notability assessment standards over time. I am familiar with WP:N, WP:BLP, WP:V and WP:RS and I ensure that all new articles meet notability and sourcing standards prior to creation. As I continue to create new articles...I believe autopatrolled would help reduce workload for NPP, as my pages generally require minimal follow-up. Umais Bin Sajjad (talk) 12:03, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Not done, unaddressed UPE concerns across older articles like PromptCloud, Jim Jewels or Zigma8. -- Sohom (talk) 03:28, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
That was nearly a decade ago. I acknowledged the issue at the time and faced the consequences, including a multi-year ban after disclosing those edits. Since then, I’ve made a conscious effort to contribute in good faith, including working on and improving notable articles in line with Wikipedia’s guidelines. I’m therefore disappointed that this past issue continues to be treated as a permanent mark against my credibility, despite the constructive contributions I’ve made since returning. Very disappointed with this review. Umais Bin Sajjad (talk) 15:16, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

User has created over 900 live articles, mainly all relating to Asian people and places. None of the articles I've randomly spot checked have any major issues that would prevent them from passing muster in NPP. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 01:15, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

@Toadspike You might be more of a domain-knowledge expert on Chinese topics and be better positioned to evaluate this request (I don't see any obvious problems tbh). Sohom (talk) 03:21, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
@Sohom Datta Last time they requested this right I found worrying source-text integrity issues . I'd have to take another look to see if that has improved. I have no concerns about the notability of their creations. Toadspike [Talk] 07:00, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Nubelbariloe

I mainly create articles related to Places and Biographies. Currently, I have around 90 live articles on Wikipedia. Auto-patrol rights would be very helpful because i just finished a course on patrolling on wikipedia and this will be an opportunity to practiced what i have learnt Nubelbariloe (talk) 12:41, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Not done I don’t think that you know what you are applying for. Either way, looking at your last two articles that you created (two BLPs), it’s clear that you don’t qualify for AP anyway. Schwede66 15:54, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Veggiegalaxy

Hi! I'm hoping to be considered for autopatrolled. I've created 77 live mainspace articles spanning biographies, film, NYC landmarks, and internet culture. My articles are well sourced and I consistently adhere to WP:BLP, WP:RS, WP:NPOV, etc. I'm also responsive - if one of my articles needs something, I'm responsive! I try to take care to go through the AfC process if I'm uncertain about notablility or something about my article.

I've also been getting more involved in other areas of Wikipedia — I review AfC submissions and participate in AfD discussions, both of which have made me a more careful article creator.

My one mainspace deletion was a lesson well learned — it taught me a lot about WP:NOTNEWS and has shaped how I evaluate topics going forward. I'd love to help reduce the review backlog! Veggiegalaxy (talk) 01:06, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Lanceloth345

As long as i have been actively contributing to Wikipedia, particularly on biographical, artistic and geographical articles mostly about Albania, i would be honored to be considered for autopatrolled status, to continue contributing further to various projects. I am requesting Auto Wiki Browser rights access; I want to continue to assist Wikipedia in the best way that I can. I find it fun and useful to assist with repetitive tasks, and I would like access to this tool that will help me to do that. I would like to use it for tasks such as fixing double words, correcting common typos, and maintenance tasks.

I am familiar with the rules for using this tool, and I am very familiar with the Wikipedia manual of style. I have a wide range of interests and would love to continue to help out while using this tool to help me to do so.

I fully intend to review every edit to ensure that I am complying with the rules and policies of Wikipedia Magwitch49 (talk) 14:06, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Losipov

I previously applied for this permission some years ago (August 2023), and was granted a 1-month trial. I then applied for full rights, but was declined due to some problems with nominations and approvals (including in draftspace). I've taken some time to review the basics for surviving AfD, and am requesting another shot at this (even if it is only for another month). I feel like I can contribute meaningfully to NPP, especially given that the backlog is rapidly growing. If it will not be granted due to those concerns, I completely understand.

Thank you for considering my request :) Losipov (talk) 21:39, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

User:BookishReader

I've created, edited, and fixed a lot of articles. I mainly contribute to Pakistan-related articles and have been monitoring new articles feed for some time now. I think there are very limited number of active editors that specialize in Pakistani sources, so someone like me can help fill the gap. BookishReader (talk) 15:50, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

User:JournalJane

I would like to apply for NPP and AfC reviewer permissions. I believe I meet the prerequisites for both.

I’ve continued contributing to Wikipedia, initially in sailing-related topics and now expanding more broadly. Following prior feedback, I’ve also spent time participating in AfD discussions, which has helped me better understand notability, sourcing, and distinguishing between articles that need improvement versus deletion.

I’ve enjoyed learning from other editors and my wiki mentors, and I would be glad to help reduce the backlog while continuing to improve my own understanding.

Thank you for your consideration. JournalJane (talk) 21:02, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) @JournalJane, I hate to ask but are you using LLMs to vote in AfDs? All of your votes sound similar and have the LLM tone to it, and here one was even hatted. Remember that participation in AfDs is to determine if that page is worthy of inclusion, and generic LLM comments don't add much. Constructive, human-written comments improve the discussion and help admins to gauge your understanding of notability here. NPPs and AfC reviewers run into a lot of LLM-generated content that is in violation of a recently updated guideline and try to curtail it. HurricaneZetaC 21:22, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing that out, I understand the concern.
I’m not using LLMs to generate AfD votes. I’ve been trying to follow a consistent structure in my comments so they stay neutral and policy-based, which may be why they read similarly. I can see how that comes across, and I’ll make an effort to vary my wording more and tailor each comment to the specific discussion.
I do take each AfD seriously, and all of my votes reflect my own assessment.
Appreciate the feedback. JournalJane (talk) 22:16, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

I was patrolling as NPP and I came across Adut Salva Kiir which does not meet WP:NPOL and qualifies for draftification, Also there is Draft:Adut Salva Kiir which is surprising, wow, for me to move that I would need PMR. I requested the PMR perm in January but I withdrew it 1, because I was like I thought I'm going to use it occasionally I don't need it but now I need the perm even though I still going to use it only occasionally, also I'm not going to participate regularly at WP:RMTR only occasionally, need it to help me with my NPP. Rollback

User:Phlogiston Enthusiast

Hello! I am Phlogiston Enthusiast. I would like a moment of your time to request rollback rights. I believe that I could use rollback permissions to assist in anti-vandalism in the recent changes tab. There are multiple reasons for this. For one, it would streamline reverts on articles that need them, and be a useful tool against vandalism. This is because if a user is making edits of a vandalistic nature, they are likely to have made multiple. Rollback would assist with these issues and prevent long and drawn-out revert wars by vandals. Second, I believe that I meet the qualifications for the role. I possess experience patrolling the recent changes section, and have reverted many vandalous edits. If need be, I can attempt to provide a comprehensive list of the articles on which I have combatted vandalism. Finally, I understand that it looks bad to have had two arguments over vandalism-related subjects in the past. However, I would argue that this is almost the opposite, as having a clean record with no mistakes would mean that I had no mistakes to learn from, and as well I have apologized to all parties involved in both. In summary, I believe that I should possess rollback rights as to better combat vandalism, and if need be there can be elaboration. If not, I completely understand.

Ammending: this was written roughly a month ago. I was told that I would need one month's experience more before I should re-apply. I have since aqquired more than this. I have been the cause for scores of blocks and have better since de-vandalized the Wiki. Following my embarrasing mishap recently reguarding confusion over the tool, I have better researched it and now believe I would be more fit to utilize this. After doing both again today I'm up to 1093. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:25, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) That isn't really relevant to rollback though; admins will check your edits when they review this, and reverts and counter-vandalism is what matters for rollback. HurricaneZetaC 16:40, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Okay, sorry. Just trying to say I understand to an extent what does and does not break syntax. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:51, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Also worth ammending is that it would provide access to interceptor, which is a useful tool I believe I could do a great deal of antivandalism with in a way that is more efficient than the typical recent changes page. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 18:33, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Also of note: I am now a Pending Changes Reviewer. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 14:49, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Phlogiston Enthusiast, an admin will review the needed information. I don't see how a lot of these notes are relevant to rollback; pending changes requires some overlapping skills with rollback (such as the ability to effectively determine what is vandalism), but it is an entirely different right for good reason, and does require different skills. Rollback's primary purpose is to assist with recent changes patrolling. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 21:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Okay, sorry. Just trying to put everything on the table here. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 02:25, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
Adding comment so it is clear this is still open and so it doesn't get archived from inactivity. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:01, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Not to sound picky, just wanted to make sure two weeks of inactivity and lack of approval/denial wouldn't make this stagnate and die. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 19:21, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Adding another comment, since it has now been 22 without this being responded too and I don't want this to get archived. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 18:03, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

I would like to renew my rollback rights, because I have been using AntiVandal constructively, and the same other reasons as my most recent request. Theeverywhereperson talk here 11:14, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Namely:
  1. I am a recent changes patroller and have been patrolling for a few months now,
  2. I have made more than 700 edits in mainspace and more than 1700 edits in total,
  3. Since I am already a pending changes reviewer, I am also used to reverting vandalism in some areas where it isn't visible to everyone yet, so I think I am trained for the job,
  4. This would allow me to use tools like AntiVandal to revert vandalism easier and faster, for the benefit of Wikipedia as a whole.

User:OzmoOzmo

Recently I have been facing disruptive editors who have been making edits extremely quickly. For example, HermeneuticMind, who was adding LLM-generated content to articles en masse, and Goldfishgonnabedeadsoon.

With rollback, I will be able to revert these unconstructive editors much faster than pressing the [vandalism] button with Twinkle for every one of their edits, which is inconvenient, inefficient and slow. -- ozmoozmo@enwiki (talk:contributions) 11:38, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Template editor

User:CharlesEditor23

I am once again requesting the template editor right. I have met the guidelines for granting, especially number 4, which is that I have had no behavioral blocks or WP:3RR violations for a minimum of six (6) months or more. The main reason why I am requesting the template editor right again is so that I may be able to make productive, meaningful contributions to protected templates such as Module:Gridiron color/data & Module:College color/data that are in line with established WP:CONSENSUS with many other editors. I believe that if granted the template editor right again, I can demonstrate that I will avoid the first criteria for revocation, which is performing obviously controversial edits without first determining WP:CONSENSUS. I will also demonstrate that I will only use wise & prudent template editing and test my changes in the sandboxes first. CharlesEditor23 (talk) 05:47, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

See and for previous requests  Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:21, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, they have had all but one module edit request accepted (and the other partly done) since their last request in September. On the other hand, I am concerned about these edits; they were rightly made in the sandbox, but only because the /data module is template-protected. This is the same sort of thing that was happening as far back as 2021 and led to their rights being revoked. I also found this which is not the right way to make a dummy edit.
Now, have I done similar things in the past? Sure, I'm pretty sure there are a few from this year even. We shouldn't be expecting perfection out of a TPE, because that is just unrealistic. However, mistakes should be few and far between for a TPE or admin, and not happening often enough to get repeated warnings going back five years. Primefac (talk) 00:08, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Santiago Claudio

I've been editing modules and templates, and their sandboxes in my 10+ years here on WP. I'm confident that I've already met all six guidelines for editor rights, especially after having successful edit requests to the following, like the college template, the U.S. House of Representatives abbreviation, the comedian infobox, and sports results and table modules, all protected. I promise to be careful with my additive or subtractive edits by previewing them beforehand if I attain this permission. Santiago Claudio (talk) 10:56, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

I deal with block evaders and abusive editors on an often enough basis that I believe I would find this permission useful in some scenarios. For example, I suspect there is block evasion from a TA on the article Frankie & Johnny (1991 film). Another example of where I might use the access is on my user talk page, where a certain LTA keeps occassionally attacking it and several others' talk pages, and the info would be useful in renewing IP rangeblocks that had lapsed. Prior to making this request, I have read through the WMF's TAIV policy and understood what I can, and can't do with the information. — AP 499D25 (talk) 09:08, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
