Un point est attribué à chaque pilote qui mène au moins un tour pendant une course.
Des points supplémentaires sont attribués aux pilotes selon leurs performances aux qualifications à l'Indy 500 et en Iowa.
En cas d'égalité, le championnat se joue sur le nombre de victoires, suivi du nombre de 2^e places, 3^e places, etc. Ensuite par le nombre de pole position, de 2^e places sur la grille, etc.
