POV Title
The goal of the attack was clearly Ukraine rather than Poland. The fact that Polish airspace was violated is an issue of its own. Catlemur (talk) 07:10, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- We could rename it something like "September 2025 Russian violation of Polish airspace". Though I haven't seen a reputable source writing, that the goal of the attack was clearly Ukraine rather than Poland. I guess we will have more information during the next hours. --Lord Bumbury (talk) 07:18, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Don't want to bludgeon but there were reports of Drones striking Ukraine before the Ukrainian Military reported to Poland that there were Drones going to the border. There were also missiles strikes that were reported to start after the Drones. Julius117 (talk) 07:30, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Russian UAVs attack Ukraine every night. In contrast, Poland was hit not by just one or two UAVs and missiles, but by several dozen at once. Some of them even flew half a thousand kilometers from the Ukrainian border and fell there, so to speak of such actions as accidental would be absurd--91.210.250.81 (talk) 11:53, 11 September 2025 (UTC)

- Exactly, Aircraft tracking and MonitorWar showed that majority of Russian Drones struck Ukrainian cities in Center Western and Western Ukraine. The violation of Polish airspace was only that, no Polish cities or assets were, to my knowledge, attacked. Julius117 (talk) 07:28, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Was the attack launched from the Kaliningrad exclave ? Otherwise I don't see geographically how it could have violated Polish airspace while targetting Ukraine ?
- (Unless launched from Belarus and intentionally flying a loop over Polish airspace so as to avoid Ukrainian air defences. And if so, how would you distinguish that from an attack on Poland itself?
- 91.89.56.16 (talk) 07:32, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- All Drones were reported to come from the Ukrainian border, unless you have a source, there was no launch from Kaliningrad. Julius117 (talk) 07:37, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Per WP:RS, up to 19 drones were deliberately launched (whether as decoys or with legitimate targets, we do not know) into Polish airspace. There are unconfirmed reports on Twitter that appear to indicate a single house was hit by a drone (the account claims TVP as a source though), but Twitter is not RS in this scenario.
- We do not know if Russia had genuine targets in Polish airspace. We know that they, most likely deliberately (per RS), intruded into Polish airspace. A more "neutral" article title might be September 2025 Russian drone intrusions into Poland (or something similar), but it would need less clunky wording (something I'm not the best at doing </3). VoidDiamondz (talk) 09:18, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm starting to see where the misunderstanding might be.
- Clearly, the overall target of Russia's missile and drone attacks in the eastern European region was *Ukraine*.
- I understand this article, however, to be about the drones that entered Polish airspace, (and which were, according to Polish military an "act of aggression that posed a real threat to the safety of our citizens" - https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c2enwk1l9e1t?post=asset%3A5193bde5-3722-4ab9-bbb1-595d6243a931#post)
- As such, I'd argue it (may have) the correct title.
- If you would like to make an article on the Russian strikes on Ukraine yesterday night, I'd suggest checking if that has been created, and if not, make it!
- 91.89.56.16 (talk) 07:48, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- I guess an addition in the introduction along the lines of "during a large strike on Ukraine" ... a number of drones entered Polish airspace, or something like that. That would help clarify I think. (I'll go for it a little later maybe).
- 91.89.56.16 (talk) 07:50, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- This was entirely deliberate and it violated airspace in a coordinated manner, plus the sheer scale shows it was clearly intentional. The types of drones used also indicate this was a targeted test. Russian propaganda already leads the narrative that it's at war with NATO not to mention the constant anti-Polonism. Plus all the WP:RS states it was quite clearly deliberate, no-one truly believes that suddenly after 3 years of pummelling Ukraine but no-one else this is just an accident. Abcmaxx (talk) 07:54, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- It has been changed to September 2025 Russian drone incursion into Poland, neutral and correct. DeadlyRampage26 (Chat) 09:51, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Support as best fit for now. Incursion is more accurate if no target/damage reported. CNC (talk) 11:00, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Support. Just so! I'd jumped on this given the sheer scale of the incursion (and too, the nature of hybrid war and Russian tactics to date). Does it have to go kinetic for it to be an attack? Did they have payloads? Were they the payloads? kencf0618 (talk) 12:52, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Catlemur: Did the Russians intend to attack Ukraine using 19 drones without armed warheads? -Matrek (talk) 18:08, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The downed drone looks like an American fuselage design, couldn't say who the belligerent actually is as it stands; 199.246.162.6 (talk) 22:55, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- thats a ridiculous argument DeadlyRampage26 (Chat) 01:11, 11 September 2025 (UTC)

Feedback from New Page Review process
I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: This stub looks acceptable. Another editor has added the template for WP:NPOV. I would recommend attempting to address this issue if you can. Thank you and happy editing!

- This appears to be related to the above based on title, but can't think of alternative title for now. I'm sure someone will come along and make a bold move (or few) to move it in a better direction. At the moment, all we have is a drone attack directed at Poland by Russia (information wise), whether intentional or not remains unclear. Hopefully later today the topic should be clearer though. From an NPP perspective, I agree the topic is notable, so POV issues should be addressed by editors (as you recommended). CNC (talk) 08:57, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
Happening
It happened today and someone scrambled to write an article. Maybe wait until some REAL authorities give their version? 78.210.241.220 (talk) 09:41, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The respected editor was perfectly right to make an article on the matter as soon as possible. It was a major escalation, and much news has already been written about it. DeadlyRampage26 (Chat) 09:50, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Leaders are already providing their responses, there was no reason to wait really. CNC (talk) 10:59, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
Date
Is the 9th September stated with East or West coast time (US)? Because the event happened on 10th September local time as far as I could research --PantheraLeo1359531 (talk) 10:13, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The first airspace violation was recorded at approximately 23:30 on Tuesday, the last around 6:30, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in the Sejm Rosyjskie drony w Polsce. Oświadczenie dyplomaty z Kremla [RELACJA NA ŻYWO]. IchibanPL (talk) 10:40, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

Notice
in my edit summary, "Mark Rutte" autocorrected to "Mark Rutter". Leaving this here if anyone is wondering for the source of my changes. Fantastic Mr. Fox 14:04, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- In the same sources being used to claim the response was to "test NATO", Mark Rutte is quoted as saying they don't know the reason at this time. Fantastic Mr. Fox 14:11, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Furthermore, we have counter allegations being reported from Belarus that the incursion was a "navigation error" as reported by Reuters. Jumping to conclusions and claiming that it was an intentional provocation at this early stage is misleading, everything is still very much up in the air. 109.147.189.178 (talk) 14:17, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- I wonder what was the motive Ukraine was invaded. Maybe that was a navigation error too? Guess we will never know the motive. It could of course never be anything intentional. Super Ψ Dro 14:27, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The differences between a large army moving over the border and 40 odd drones entering an airspace are quite stark. This is why speculation instead of using the known facts always leads to trouble on Wikipedia.
- They is correct about Reuters btw Fantastic Mr. Fox 14:51, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

This article is clearly WP:OVERLINK, just NATO is linked 4-5 times in this extremely short article. Jesuliz (talk) 15:35, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
Number of drones.
I think, that official goverment page is more valuable source than "Rzeczpospolita". On goverment page we can read, that there was 19 incursions, not 23 as in "Rzeczpospolita" article. Pascal03wreth (talk) 19:51, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

Italy?
I just noticed Italy mentioned in the infobox. Is there any specific reason for this? I can understand why the Netherlands is mentioned, seeing as the Netherlands (according to the rest of the article) cooperated in shooting down some drones, but I don’t see much for Italy?
Slomo666 (talk) 21:02, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- They provided AWACS support - See Alin2808 (talk) 21:07, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick response. This should be mentioned on the article though, shouldn’t it? Or at least a reference inserted at that spot in the infobox for people to look at? The infobox is the first thing people will see, so they would likely expect to read more about this. At least that’s how I experienced it.
- Slomo666 (talk) 21:19, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, just expanded on all aircraft deployments in the operation. Mentioned the German Patriots as well (though they only remained on high alert and I found no source saying they shot down any drones). Alin2808 (talk) 21:25, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Patriot missiles are never used against UAVs but exclusively against aircraft and missiles. Shooting down a Gerbera drone, which costs about 5 thousand dollars, with an anti-air missile from a Patriot system, which costs 3 million dollars, is absurd--91.210.250.81 (talk) 12:17, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
- I do not see the relevance of this statement. Slomo666 (talk) 11:16, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

Belarus
@Anton Vlasenko
stated in his last edit that “The cited sources do not state that the drones were launched from Belarus. Since this claim is not supported by the provided references“
However, this does not appear to be true? The claim is mentioned multiple times in both (DW, BBC) articles?
I’ll note that it is mentioned in those articles as an allegation, not a fact that the author themselves believes to be true. So perhaps the phrasing was too hasty, but I think the logic used in removal was exaggeration.
Slomo666 (talk) 21:16, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- If we consider that the Gerbera drone with an additional fuel tank has a flight range of about 600-700 km, it is obvious that the launch took place from the territory of Belarus--91.210.250.81 (talk) 13:21, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
