Welcome!

Hello, Settignano, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits, such as the ones to the page Air Canada, show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.

Did you know that ...

MOS:TITLECAPS

Please do not add citations with all-caps titles, like you did at Air Canada - per the Manual of Style, titles should be written in title case, not all uppercase. Danners430 tweaks made 10:58, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Alaska Airlines, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Combi was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

How to properly list them?

Bibliographies

Hi, why are you adding bibliographies to random articles? The point of a bibliography is it contains works which were used to build the article... if you're just adding random related books to an article, but they're not actually used as sources, then that's Further Reading, not a bibliography.

Also please note that citation templates like {{cite book}} exist to standardise formatting. Danners430 tweaks made 17:36, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

I am reviewing my sources database.
By consequence I add as many books as I have in my personal library (or I know were published) accordingly to already existing "bibliography" or "further reading" chapters.
Am I wrong? Settignano (talk) 17:43, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
There's nothing whatsoever wrong with adding additional reading to articles - but you're not actually using the sources to verify anything in the article, therefore they're not bibliographies - they're simply Further Reading Danners430 tweaks made 17:44, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Ok, I will use "further reading" from now on.
What if I get across an already existing "bibliography" and I have that book in my collection? Settignano (talk) 17:48, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Like I said - bibliographies contain sources which are used in the writing of the article... so if there's an existing bibliography, it was most likely used as a source when the article was written or edited.
Also, please take note of the second point about citation templates. Danners430 tweaks made 17:50, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Ok, thank you.
Am I doing a good work anyway? Settignano (talk) 17:59, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Aye - adding additional content to Further Reading sections is definitely useful :-) Danners430 tweaks made 18:01, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Are you interested in commercial aviation? Settignano (talk) 18:07, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
@Settignano, When you add book titles that are not used as sources as a part of further reading, please make sure the section is placed in the relevant part at the bottom of the article after references (see WP:Manual of Style/Layout). Do not insert them into places or into middle of articles. Also, when you specify texts for additional reading, please make sure it is relevant, and has the full information preferably with the title, author, publisher, year, isbn etc. and link to the source material if available online. If the information is not complete, then there is no point in placing it in the first place. Also, please leave an edit summary as to what and why so that others can understand the same. Thanks! Recent edit reversion

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:11, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

TEA Italia

Hey there, and thanks for your contributions. However, I don't think the article TEA Italia as it stands now is suitable for mainspace. It currently only consists of an infobox and does not cite any sources. While I do think the subject is likely notable, I would strongly suggest moving it to draftspace or to your sandbox until there's some prose to it. Gommeh (talk! sign!) 15:54, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

TEA Italia moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to TEA Italia. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it has no sources. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Gommeh (talk! sign!) 16:34, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

I was still writing....
I will go for the draft tomorrow as I have more infos to add, of course. Settignano (talk) 16:55, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Good idea. It's generally best practice to start off doing this sort of thing in draftspace (identifiable by Draft: at the beginning of the title, e.g. Draft:TEA Italia, and then publish it to article space only when you're completely done. Let me know if you need any more help! Gommeh (talk! sign!) 16:59, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Thanks. I will follow your suggestion.
Indeed here in WP.en there are afew different rules from WP.it (from which I come).
Anyway I looked at my sandbox and found no trace of my TEA Italia writing...
Where do you think is it? I hope it is not lost as I would like to complete the text with additional informations I was unable to add yesterday. Settignano (talk) 05:27, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
Okay, I've finished my corrections and additions.
Please take a look at the page and let me know if it's OK now.
If so, you can transfer it directly to the entry. Settignano (talk) 07:10, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
I'm not really convinced about the first paragraph. The current introduction section reads more like a section on the airline's history, which could be moved into its own section. Instead, MOS:LEAD (the guideline on writing the first paragraph of an article) states that it should introduce the topic of the article to the reader and summarize the rest of the article. For an example of how a lead section for a defunct airline should ideally look, see Pan Am. Overall the rest of the article looks fine by me, but I should preface that by saying I normally don't do aviation or airline articles (my main topic of interest is video games) so there could be something I missed. If you need further help, I would recommend asking the folks at WikiProject Airlines to take a look at it over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airlines. Gommeh (talk! sign!) 12:06, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks again.
Every day I learn something more... As I told you before I come from WP.it where the pages rules and writing were a little bit different.
Now I am working on more drafts.
Stay in touch... Settignano (talk) 13:58, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
No problem! I have no idea if you've done this already, but if you haven't, another good place to get resources from would be Wikipedia:WikiProject Airlines/page content. While I can't provide much detailed guidance myself, hopefully that page should point you in the right direction as to how to write the article according to the English Wikipedia standards for defunct airlines. Good luck! Gommeh (talk! sign!) 14:06, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

The reviewer, Rusty Cat, left the following feedback:
This draft's references do not show that the subject meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for organizations and companies. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
  • provide significant coverage: discuss the subject in detail, excluding routine coverage like product launches, staff appointments, or financial reports and listings in databases or listicles;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the subject, such as press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

Yes, I know that my writing was weak.
The main reason it that all I wrote came from a personal interview (not written), memories a few press cuttings. So nothing which can be considered a reliable and documented source.
Anyway it was just an attempt to check how a small regional airline would be treated.
I do not mind if the draft will be deleted. Settignano (talk) 06:53, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

And who are you? Danners430 tweaks made 07:16, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
Italian citizen, living in Florence (Italy).
At the age of 16, I began following air transport, particularly airlines around the world.
I edited a monthly aviation magazine for 11 years. I have contributed to numerous publications on transport and tourism. In the early 1990s, I wrote a guide of regional airlines and one of charter airlines. In the mid-1990s, I created the first guide to Italian airports.
I am a member of the Italian Association of Freelance Journalists.
I worked professionally for four years at Rome's Fiumicino Airport and for eight years for the largest aircraft manufacturing company in Italy (Aeritalia, later renamed Alenia). I was part of the team that managed the ATR 42/ATR 72 (regional transport aircraft) program in Toulouse.
I have an archive of thousands of airline images, a huge archive of printed materials and press cuttings, and a library of nearly 100 books on air transport.
Is that enough? Settignano (talk) 14:29, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello!
I hope you've reconsidered your opinion of Aliblu airline. Don't forget that it only used one type of aircraft, and a British-made one at that. Settignano (talk) 09:39, 17 May 2026 (UTC)

CS1 styling

Hi, as we’ve tried to tell you a few times now, English Wikipedia has a house style for citations - WP:CS1. For a while now the books you’ve been adding have been non-standard - can we please ask that you use the appropriate citation templates where possible, such as Template:Cite book, which render your citation in the CS1 style. Danners430 tweaks made 08:46, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

@Settignano are you reading your talk page? I noticed you're still making the same edits Danners430 tweaks made 09:25, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Are you following me step by step? Settignano (talk) 09:42, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
No, I just have a large number of pages on my watchlist (approx. 10k+) and I usually stay on there - I'm not specifically following you Danners430 tweaks made 10:29, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

MUST... FOLLOW... SETTIGNANO...
If it is't clear, I'm being humerous when I say that by the way :-) Danners430 tweaks made 11:07, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Yes I know. I used the other way as it is faster and I could copy the reference from my own bibliography.
But if it is compulsory I will go on as EXAMPLE:
  • Bluffield, Robert (2009). Imperial Airways – The Birth of the British Airline Industry 1914-1940. Ian Allan. ISBN 978-1-906537-07-4.
Settignano (talk) 09:42, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
It's not compulsory by any means, and apologies if I implied that - it's preferred. It would be good, purely because it keeps the format standardised, but the policy at WP:CITEVAR is clear that formatting is not compulsory at all.
The only thing I would point out is to be a little more careful with inline cites - there was one earlier where you left in the bullet point at the beginning. They obviously belong in Bibliographies, but in citations you don't need a bullet point :-) Not a complaint at all, just making you aware of the sort of mistake that I make regularly! Further reading section

Do not put books into the Further reading section if you already use them as a reference, and if you do add a book from further reading as a reference then remove it from that section. Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:14, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

UNDER-STOOD
(even if in WP Italy there was a different rule) Settignano (talk) 10:18, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
So maybe the best thing to do is create bibliography section for the books that are cited? See the very good example of History of British Airways with short-form citations for author/page number, plus a bibliography section with the full details for those reference, plus a further reading section for other books not referenced. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:04, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

CS1 error on List of defunct airlines of Italy

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of defunct airlines of Italy, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 10:29, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

It looks like you blocked the page due to a small flaw.
As things stand, the Federico II Airways page is no longer visible...
Why didn't you fix it yourself? Settignano (talk) 10:48, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
That is literally a bot... it hasn't done anything, it only notifies you that there's a CS1 error. Danners430 tweaks made 12:11, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Unsourced entries

Why do you persist in adding unsourced content to List of defunct airlines of Italy, e.g. Alivicenza, Binair and others? Please stop. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:18, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Now I found the source... Settignano (talk) 09:11, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
It would appear (and I don’t mean this maliciously) that you’re going about this the wrong way - we need to add sources at the same time as we add content… put simply, if you don’t have a source at the time you’re adding stuff then where are you even getting it from? Danners430 tweaks made 09:56, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Related books, literature xerox copies, magazines, personal writings, memory, etc. Settignano (talk) 10:59, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
I don't mean to play down your personal knowledge, but we have to bear in mind that we cannot be using our own knowledge as sources on Wikipedia - it's original research. Readers must be able to verify the information presented in articles, and the normal way for this to be achieved is through a citation. If we are unable to provide reliable sources for the content we add, then unfortunately it simply cannot be added to Wikipedia until such time as the source is available to be cited. Danners430 tweaks made 11:16, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
I always refer to documented sources. Occasionally, I may add something of my own because I've worked in civil and commercial aviation for many years. Settignano (talk) 13:48, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
And yet there have been many edits where you're adding content without sources - otherwise we wouldn't be leaving notes like this. As for your own work, the requirements of WP:RS still apply - if it's a personal writing, not published by a third party, then it would potentially fall under self-published source. Danners430 tweaks made 13:53, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, but it's hard for me to erase the memories of 40 years of civil and commercial aviation.... Settignano (talk) 15:39, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
That's not what I'm saying - but regardless of how experienced you are, sources are still required Danners430 tweaks made 16:09, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Good morning.
After editing the (missing) pages for Aeralpi, Aertirrena, and Avioligure, I believe I've completed the revision of all the defunct Italian airlines.
A few are still missing, but they're really small, moreover I've already noticed there are no images of them on Wikimedia.
I propose this working plan. I'll edit the pages for these small airlines, let you know, and leave it up to you to decide whether to keep them or delete them. Settignano (talk) 06:47, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
No, that is not how Wikipedia works at all. Create a draft article for these airlines and submit them via WP:AFC. Danners430 tweaks made 07:01, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
Ok, I will follow your instruction. Settignano (talk) 07:15, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of defunct airlines of Italy, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Columbia was added.

Draft:Fortune Aviation

That article is nowhere near ready for main space so I have moved it trough draft where you can work on it in peace. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:45, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

I have nothing else to add to the page.
Did I work for nothing? Settignano (talk) 16:33, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
I would suggest that you consider drafting articles then submitting them through the AfC process instead of just creating articles from scratch in main space. That article is nowhere near ready. You have three references, two of which are identical, and no page numbers. Something that size should have way more inline citations for the large amounts of text that are unreferenced (with page numbers if you are referencing books). Plus it has an unreferenced fleet table. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:37, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
It's a funny situation. Despite having had professional contacts with Fortune Aviation management (my company's managers occasionally rented their executive jets), I have very little documentation other than the one mentioned.
So what should I do?
Anyway, I don't understand your words "unreferenced fleet table." What else should be referenced? Settignano (talk) 06:35, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
If you don't have references to prove that the airline is notable, then it should not be an article. A wide range of references support claims of notability. As for the unreferenced fleet table, it means that the fleet table has no references. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:38, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
As for the personal contact, that gives you an interest (although unlikely a conflict of interest WP:COI) but no advantage as an author because personal knowledge would be original research WP:OR. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:39, 19 May 2026 (UTC)

I'm sorry for causing any harm.
Let me explain about Italian airline Airone.
I started with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:WPAVIATION_creator
When the page opened, there was an infobox and a page dedicated to a tourism and nature magazine (which I know). I deleted all the informations and replaced them with the airline's information.
Now I realize I made a mistake and that I had to create a disambiguated page. Settignano (talk) 07:23, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
If you do create a new page, please start it as a draft article 10mmsocket (talk) 07:40, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
Ok.
Where is the draft of the draft page (active I mean)? Settignano (talk) 07:45, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
You create it yourself, e.g. Draft:Airone (airline) 10mmsocket (talk) 07:51, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
or use this link. TBB (talk) 08:12, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

Image sizes

Why do you persist in messing up tables by randomly changing some image sizes? Things are consistent for a reason. If you think they should be larger, then fine, but change all the images not just a small number. 10mmsocket (talk) 17:06, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Fortune Aviation (May 25)

Draft declined
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Your draft submission to Articles for creation has been reviewed but not accepted at this time.
Feedback
The reviewer, Spiderone, left the following feedback:
This draft is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires that all content be supported by reliable sources.
  • Reliable sources include: reputable newspapers, magazines, academic journals, and books from respected publishers.
  • Unacceptable sources include: personal blogs, social media, predatory publishers, most tabloids, and websites where anyone can contribute.
Replace any unreliable sources with high-quality sources. If you cannot find a reliable source for the material, it should be removed.
This is far from acceptable per comments raised at User_talk:Settignano#Draft:Fortune_Aviation, which were made prior to this draft being submitted for review. Again, no pages provided for the 2 book references and the 'fleet' section has no references.

Next steps

  • Edit Draft:Fortune Aviation to address the points above, making sure to publish any changes.
  • When you are ready to resubmit your draft for review, click the Resubmit button.
  • If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it may be deleted.

I'm surprised by this decision.
I cited at least two authoritative sources: G. Endres (works of a well-known aviation writer) and M. Wickstead (from the respected Air-Britain group).
Aren't they sufficient? Settignano (talk) 14:07, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
No decision has been made - @Mariamnei is notifying you that a discussion has been opened, not that a decision has been made. You're more than welcome, indeed encouraged, to participate in the discussion. Danners430 tweaks made 14:09, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
As @Danners430 says, no decision has been made and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion. I just want to explain that in my opinion, the sources currently in the article do not establish notability. The sources presented appear to be passing mentions of the airline, whereas the requirement for WP:NCORP require significant coverage. As an aside, two sources is rarely enough to establish notability, especially for a company or organisation. I hope this is helpful, and feel free to follow up with any other questions. Have a great day! Mariamneireach out 🕊️ 09:20, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

Page numbers

Please add page numbers. If you are reading the books and adding them as references you should know exactly what page the airline is mentioned on. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:20, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Interwiki copying

Hello Settignano, please remember, when you translate from the Italian Wikipedia, attribution is required. If you are unsure how to provide attribution, please follow the steps found here. This brings up another larger issue: the way you edit, the way you ignore other editors’ warnings, and the way you conduct yourself are not compatible. You cannot go around adding unsourced content (like on Alisarda), hijacking pages (like on Airone), violating copyright (like on Aigle Azur), and, most importantly, repeatedly ignoring warnings from other editors about these issues. These are the exact issues that led you to being blocked on the Italian Wikipedia, and on Commons. You're obviously editing in good faith, but you cannot continue editing the way you are. Please, slow down and heed the warnings, or you may find yourself blocked here too. Thank you. The4lines |||| (talk) 18:19, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
