The 1900 Texas lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 6, 1900 in order to elect the lieutenant governor of Texas. Incumbent Democratic lieutenant governor James Browning defeated Republican nominee John B. Schmitz, Populist nominee Clarence Nugent and Socialist Labor nominee Edmund Bellinger.
Results
On election day, November 6, 1900, incumbent Democratic lieutenant governor James Browning won re-election by a margin of 183,803 votes against his foremost opponent Republican nominee John B. Schmitz, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of lieutenant governor. Browning was sworn in for his second term on January 15, 1901.[1]
