This article is still a WIP.

There are still some sections I have planned that are not yet complete in userspace, which I will add later in stages. I welcome anyone to assist with adding these sections in or adding in anything that can improve the article. Thanks! 11WB (talk) 09:36, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

First sentences

Great article so far! If I may, I think the first sentences of the lead section could be rearranged. I often recommend this with film articles since it's not always warranted to have the director and writer upfront every time, and these are what I tend to cite:

  • MOS:OPEN: "The first paragraph should define or identify the topic with a neutral point of view, but without being too specific. It should establish the context in which the topic is being considered by supplying the set of circumstances or facts that surround it."
  • MOS:FIRST:
  • "The first sentence should tell the nonspecialist reader what or who the subject is, and often when or where."
  • "For topics notable for only one reason, this reason should usually be given in the first sentence."
  • MOS:CONTEXTLINK: "The first sentence should provide links to the broader or more elementary topics that are important to the article's topic or place it into the context where it is notable."
  • WP:UNDUE: "Undue weight can be given in several ways, including but not limited to the depth of detail, the quantity of text, prominence of placement, the juxtaposition of statements, and the use of imagery." (emphasis mine)

I think here, the first sentence could say more directly that it is a fictional so-and-so that is the main setting of the Avatar films and related media. A detail like the planet Polyphemus does not feel relevant for the first few sentences. Maybe the second sentence could be more about the biome, then mention the indigenous peoples who live on it? Polyphemus and other such details can follow. Also, on another note, is Pandora not best called an exomoon instead of exoplanet? Erik (talk | contrib) 17:16, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

Only just saw this now, my apologies. I have no issue whatsoever with any wording or sourcing changes (or any changes, barring vandalism), and other additions to the article. I agree that MOS should be followed at all times, so these wording and structural proposals are absolutely fine. 11WB (talk) 19:49, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
