Peach, Mario and the other women

Would it be possible to expand the article, so that it goes more in depth on her relationship with Mario? I'd also like to see someone address similarities between Peach, Roselina and Paulina. FF3TerraAndLocke (talk) 06:17, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Unless it is sourced, it would be trivia. As for the similarities, I do not think it is neccessary. Androids101 | Visit me! | talk | contribs 07:21, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

"Partner"?

The article claims:

"...her best friend and partner is Princess Daisy."

Should, perhaps, the term 'partner' be clarified? Or perhaps I missed one of the Mario games out there... -Grammaticus Repairo (talk) 18:55, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Can you tell me where that is? I'll gladly remove that claim. Androids101 | Visit me! | talk | contribs 07:21, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Can there be a section that shows details about Peach's appearance? also a list of her voice members over the years would be nice to see.

Hello! I will be taking this one on. Pretty excited to do this one given how big of a character Peach is. Will hopefully get to this soon. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 20:01, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

Six GA Criteria

1. Article is overall well-written.

2. No OR, all info is cited in the article.

3. Coverage is in-depth and covers multiple aspects of the subject.

4. Article appears neutral, and does not appear to hold a significantly negative nor positive stance on the subject.

5. Article appears stable. Does not appear to have had any major vandalism occur.

6. Article uses two fair use images. Infobox has proper rationale, as does the second. I'm iffy on the second, but I do concur it shows the development of the character's design as described in the text adequately.

Lead

-I'd personally reword "installment" to "game" since it comes off a little clunky here.

Concept and creation

-"Miyamoto later said that Donkey Kong had been designed for arcades, which were frequented by male gamers, so Nintendo did not consider making a character that would be playable by girls." This seems to pertain more to Pauline than Peach, so I'm not sure if it's needed.

  • I feel this is important within the context of Peach's development and helps to explain why she was given the role of damsel. Fieryninja (talk) 06:18, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

-"A strategy guide titled How to Win at Super Mario Bros., which was published around the time of the first Super Mario Bros. game in 1985, depicted the princess as a human on its cover, but also with a mushroom-inspired form" What did this mushroom form pertain? It feels a little unclear with the current wording.

  • I've added a more specific description based on the images in the source. Fieryninja (talk) 06:28, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Characteristics

-Looks good

Appearances

-Hyperlink Luigi when he is first referenced given it's his first mention in the article.

  • Done

-"As one of four playable characters in the game, she outwitted her enemies with the unique ability to float over obstacles." Is the reference to outwitting referred to by a source anywhere? If not, I'd reword this to be more neutral.

  • Done

-Would Peach's Castle be capitalized, given it's often referred to with it?

  • Done

-I'd trim down the introductory text relating to New Super Marios Bros. 2 given that most of it isn't too relevant to the text. (Primarily the "by waving to Mario and Luigi as they soar into the sky to collect coins wearing their racoon suits." bit)

  • Done

-"Peach begins the Nintendo Switch game Super Mario Odyssey (2017) by being abducted by Bowser, who wants to marry her." I'd cut the "by" here.

  • Done

-Are the references to Peach's various outfits in 3D World and Odyssey necessary? They seem like unneeded detail unless there's a reason for it.

  • Trimmed

-"and a Princess Peach Tennis outfit." What is this used for?

  • I've clarified per the reference that all the rewards are wearable Mii outfits. Fieryninja (talk) 15:04, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

-The reference to the Elephant form feels unneeded.

-"In Mario Strikers Charged (2007), her losing animation involves throwing a tantrum, whereas in Mario Strikers: Battle League (2022) she fans herself and calms herself down." This info here feels really random, especially since it's all that's said about these games.

  • I've kept it in but added more context about both games. Fieryninja (talk) 16:09, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

-" In the baseball game Mario Super Sluggers (2008), Peach is one of the rarer choices that can be chosen from a large roster of characters" How is she rarer?

  • I've clarified this according to the reference. Fieryninja (talk) 16:55, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I feel as though her losing animations aren't really relevant here, in any case. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 18:57, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Removed

-Baby Peach is randomly introduced in the "Other Mario games" section with no prior reference. Given she often acts as a separate character, it might be worthwhile to elaborate on her earlier on.

  • I can't find any sources relating to Baby Peach. Fieryninja (talk) 17:15, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Perhaps reword to something like "Cat Peach, a baby version of Peach, and Pink Gold Peach"? Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 18:58, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Reworded

-I'd specify the new Tour variations are just alternate costumes.

  • Done

-" by a mystery guest and replaced with an explosive alternative" This is utterly confusing to anyone who has never played this game. I'd reword this to be more clear.

  • I've tried to clarify this. Fieryninja (talk) 17:47, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

-Pluralize Shroobs

  • Done

-"a rabbit version of Peach" I'd reword this to "Rabbid" given that the Rabbids are distinctly separate from actual rabbits

  • Done

-Could you elaborate on what a boomshot is, or at least reword to make it more clear to those who haven't played the game?

-"In May 2016, a Super Mario Mash Up Pack released as downloadable content for the Wii U edition of Minecraft featured Peach as one of 12 skins used as playable Nintendo characters and recreated Peach's Castle as a location in the game." Bit of a run-on. Could this be split/reworded?

  • Done

-" pulled back to the Mushroom Kingdom by King Kooper" Isn't he named King Koopa?

Merchandise

-Looks good

Reception

-I feel the Destructoid fashion source isn't really too helpful here.

  • Done

-Same with the Strikers source about her outfit, which is very much a trivial mention.

  • Done

-" Mike Sholars of Kotaku hoped that the introduction of Rosalina in Super Mario Galaxy would mean that the Super Mario series would no longer need to rely on the concept of saving the princess and that Peach could become more than a plot device." I feel you could reword this, since this is in the future tense.

  • Done

-The Peachette source in the second paragraph feels mostly unrelated to Peach.

  • Removed

-The Mary Sue source also feels weak and can likely be cut.

  • Removed

-I'd change deserve to deserved in the last paragraph to fit with the tensing in the rest of the paragraph.

  • Done

-The reference to "Peach Month" seems to be more promotion than any lasting legacy.

-The first two paragraphs kind of suffer from lacking a clear, cohesive Reception idea. It feels a lot like refs are slapped into paragraphs instead of being developed into cohesive ideas about what the sources are saying. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but if you feel you could improve it, then I'd say to go for it.

  • I kinda disagree with this, as the first reception paragraph is really a narrative about her role as a kidnapping victim, with various commentary about it, so it centres mostly on that. The next begins the chronological commentary starting with early games. I will have a look to see if the narrative can be improved. Fieryninja (talk) 08:16, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Overall

Article overall looks pretty good, especially given it's for such an iconic character and a massive topic overall. Let me know if you have any questions about anything, and great work. I'll be happy to pass this once everything is addressed. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 23:03, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi Pokelego999 I've worked through your points so would you like to check it over and discuss any outstanding issues? Fieryninja (talk) 18:00, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
@Fieryninja looks good, just need clarification on two more points above. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 19:00, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
@Pokelego999 I've made those two changes now. Fieryninja (talk) 19:12, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
