Wikipedia talk:Featured articles#High quality sources list?

Per 1c of the WP:Featured article criteria, "it is a thorough and representative survey of the relevant literature; claims are verifiable against high-quality reliable sources."

I am bolding the word "high-quality", as there is a higher standard of source than just reliable that references must meet for an article to become featured. I have started a discourse on whether we should have a list similar to WP:RSP of sources considered high-quality, as we could come to a consensus via discussion instead of figuring it out at random during featured article nominations and reviews. A lot of political sources either meet that standard with flying colors or fail miserably, so please give your input on which ones are good or which ones are not, and whether to support what I'm proposing or not. Thanks! HUMANXANTHRO (What you say about his company is what you say about society) 20:58, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Gender breakdowns of legislative chambers

I recently updated the page Idaho Legislature with an updated breakdown of members by gender. I also removed a couple of pie charts which were out of date as a result.

This has me wondering - should a breakdown of a legislative chamber by gender be on a page, and if so, is there a standard place to put it (infobox, composition section, membership section, etc...)? Tymewalk (talk) 02:38, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

IMHO, I'd remove such pie charts. I'd favour removing any such breakdown of members. GoodDay (talk) 03:09, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Should it be added?

Should it be added in the Ali Larijani article that he is regarded as the real de facto leader of Iran since End December 2025? There are more than 15 sources which have the opinion that he is the real de facto leader. Here are the sources:

Historic data (USA elections)

Dear everyone

Apologies if this is a noob question, but I was wondering if historical data was also welcome as part of the project? If so, this fantastic resource has data, plus links to other databases, all about early American elections. It even includes a link to a dataset of electoral boundaries/shapes, suitable for upload to Wikimedia Commons. Thought it would be good to put on the radar! I'd also be happy to develop a dissertation project with students in Computer Science in St Andrews if anyone fancies collaborating on adding the data to Wikidata (if it isn't already there).

Here's the website: Mapping Early American Elections

Always official portrait?

In May 2025, @CompleteAnonymity brought up a talk on Ct senator Richard Blumenthal's talk page about never using official portrait if they are over 6 years old.

Then he started edit warring over the idea, which eventually turned in his favor. Many congresspeople now have low-quality images that look pretty bad.

The main thing is-

Vote A to keep newer photos.

Vote B to always use official portraits.

If B comes out successful, I think the oldest the portrait can be is 10-15 years old. ~~PolishHamsteryeah 23:46, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
