Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/India

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to India. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|India|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to India. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

Procedural nomination: the latest incarnation of this article is similar to the one deleted at AfD a month ago, but not sufficiently identical for G4. Sourcing for the new page actually looks worse than it was for the deleted one, but I admit I didn't carry out a proper analysis. WP:BLP of a political figure, not reliably sourced as passing WP:NPOL. As always, unelected candidates for political office do not get Wikipedia articles just for being candidates -- the notability test for politicians is holding a notable office, not just running for one, while candidates get articles only if they already had preexisting notability for other reasons that would already have gotten them articles on those other grounds regardless of the candidacy.
But there's no other meaningful notability claim here besides a candidacy, and the article is "referenced" entirely to simple lists of all of his party's candidates across the entire election, namechecking his existence without being about him in any substantive or notability-contributing sense.
Obviously no prejudice against recreation after election day if he wins the seat, but simply being a candidate is not legitimate grounds for an article to already exist now. Bearcat (talk) 19:28, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Contested PROD. As with other creations by this user, the cited sources do not substantively cover this battle, and as such it appears to fail WP:GNG. The content is not borne out by the cited sources, and their presence counts for nothing. The content about the "battle" makes it clear there wasn't a battle, merely a standoff. Non-notable under-construction temple. Lack of WP:SIGCOV, sources are either promotional articles about the construction company or related to a visit by the Indian Prime Minister. • Keep – I totally disagree with the nominator. The rationale provided does not accurately reflect the available sources and appears to overlook the nature of the coverage about this project.

First, the argument that this is a "non-notable under-construction temple" is not convincing. Construction status itself is not a valid criteria for deletion.

Second, the claim of "lack of WP:SIGCOV" does not seem valid with the available references.

Third, the suggestion that "the sources arepromotional" is also questionable. Independent reporting that discusses the engineering aspects, scale, and construction of a project cannot simply be dismissed as promotional without clear justification.

Fourth, the claim that the coverage is "only related to the Prime Minister's visit" is misleading. When the Prime Minister of India participates in a foundation-stone ceremony media coverage mainly discusses the project itself.

It appears that the nominator User:Zuck28, is repeatedly raising concerns about the article without fully addressing the topic and sources already cited.🌟 𝒯𝐻𝐸 𝐵𝒪𝒮𝒮! 04:23, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Long-term unsourced article Mariamnei (talk) 07:45, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

  1. – Two 'Avalanche Peaks' lie north of Badrinath, equally famous evidently because they generated avalanches on the first climbers. T. H. Tilly and John Jackson were involved in an avalanche on the peak in the Bangneu glacier, 6196 m. Jackson received superfluous bruises while Tilly twisted his knee and had to be carried back to base. Two climbers David Bryson and Jackson returned to climb the peak on 18 June 1952. Young students climbed it in 1984 but without any mishap. The second, higher and the northerly, Avalanche Peak is 6443 m, south of Kalindi Khal. It was climbed by Eric Shipton and Frank Smythe on 22 July 1931 with two Sherpas. They were caught in two avalanches while returning. Smythe fractured a rib and both the celebrities were lucky to have escaped.
  2. – This whole article has SIGCOV about the peak and its expedition, including history, heights, base camps, routes, treks, camps, adjoining glaciers and surrounding locales.
  3. – This has SIGCOV about history of expedition

And , and have some basic facts, although I won't say SIGCOV. Overall, seems good enough to save the page. These just need to be added to the article. BhikhariInformer (talk) 20:05, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Non-notable social initiative, appears to fail GNG. Was de-prodded, and editors have already started voting on deletion on the talk page. I'm honestly not sure what to make of these sources, they seem like routine/promotional coverage, as they all have the same title. I couldn't find anything apart from that in searches. Keep:
This nomination is a procedural laziness over basic due diligence. To suggest a State University, legislated into existence by a government assembly lacks notability because the entry hasn't been curated to the nominator’s aesthetic standards is a staggering misinterpretation of WP:NUNI.
The claim that "no facts were ever verifiable" is particularly precious. A ten-second google search with the Himachal Pradesh Technical University Act or the UGC recognition list would have been more productive than drafting this AfD. https://www.indiacode.nic.in/bitstream/123456789/5721/1/the_himachal_pradesh_technical_university_act%2C_2014.pdf
Evidently, the nominator prefers a "bonfire" to a Google search.
The "low activity" decried here is simply a byproduct of HPTU’s structure as an affiliating body. It serves as the regulatory and degree-granting body for colleges (e.g., JNGEC, RGGEC); the students exist at the college level, while the university provides the accreditation.
Deletion is an extreme remedy for a "formatting deficit." This is a clear case for WP:CLEANUP, not a deletion based on the nominator's failure to perform WP:BEFORE.

Edit: Fixed the broken WP:NUNI syntax from my previous comment. Apologies for the mess.'ve been away from wiki-editing. Priybrat (talk) 02:51, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Legislation is a primary source, hence not so great to use when verifying these facts. If this is an institution is independent of the government, then citing legislation will probably provide a lack of information as the university's policies or secondary reporting may supply more information. Remember that secondary sources are much more preferred to primary ones. Can you please update your link to WP:NUNIV? The link currently is not working.
I'm not calling out low activity, the lack of references is the issue that I am calling out. As part of your cleaning up process, citations to some reliable sources would be very welcome, then we could have avoided this deletion discussion. Sorry I didn't carry out editing to add references as per WP:BEFORE, I just wanted to focus my editing on other articles where I am more confident that I will find the information needed to verify claims. Qwerty123M (talk) 01:27, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
The suggestion that a state-founding Act is "not so great" for verification is a curious interpretation of WP:PRIMARY, which explicitly permits such sources to establish objective, non-interpretive facts like the legal existence of a university. This, in conjunction with WP:NUNI, renders the subject's notability a matter of public record.
While WP:SECONDARY sources are preferred for establishing notability, failure to perform WP:BEFORE could explains their absence from the article’s current revision, not their universal absence. Deletion is an extreme remedy for a simple formatting deficit that few clicks would have resolved.
Also, my apologies for the mangled syntax in my previous reply; a lack of wiki-activity led to forgotten syntax and broken links. Priybrat (talk) 02:45, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment: The article has been tagged as unsourced as well, since September 2015. Having even that tag last over a decade is a bad sign (and our tolerance for unsourced articles has only shrunk in that decade), but notability can be determined by the existence of sources as much as actually including them (but I have no opinion or comment to that end with regard to this article). WCQuidditch 01:07, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
The observation regarding the decade-old tag is fair, but it highlights a failure of maintenance rather than a lack of notability. Under WP:NUNI, state-sanctioned universities possess inherent notability; they do not expire like a domain name simply because the "unsourced" tag has reached its tenth anniversary.
Multiple colleges linked to the article, and listing this as the university they affiliate to should suffice WP:NEXIST.

Conversion of non-Hindu places of worship into temples (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

I believe the article severely violates all P&Rs. Some of those are below: Synthesis of Published Material (WP:SYNTH) & Original Research (WP:OR): It mixes different contexts together and creates a completely new narrative which doesn't exist in reality. Some examples are: Incidents in the USA, Canada, and the UK where abandoned churches bought by Hindus and made into Hindu temples are shown as "conversion". It is a natural process. Plus, it includes incidents of some changes in religious structures during political upheavals in antiquity and the Middle Ages. This means showing completely different incidents under the same umbrella term. False Equivalence and violates Neutral Point of View (WP:NPOV): The listicle presents politically sensitive incidents like the Babri Mosque as equivalent to real estate acquisitions like buying unused churches. It confuses readers and violates NPOV. Then comes the Coatrack Article (WP:COATRACK): At the end of the article, in the See Also section, it has links to Anti-mosque campaigning in India and Saffronisation, which clearly indicates that the purpose of the article isn't encyclopedic, but rather spreading ideological and political bias. So, it can be considered a coatrack article for an agenda. Also, Indiscriminate Collection of Information (WP:INDISCRIMINATE): Conversion of non-Hindu places of worship into temples is unclear. The article has no specific focus. It covers everything from ancient Buddhist/Jain periods to general legal property transactions in the 21st century. So, per the rules of WP:SYNTH, WP:OR, WP:NPOV, WP:COATRACK, and WP:INDISCRIMINATE, it is completely deletable. Tendonlol (talk) 16:14, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Politics, Hinduism, India, United Kingdom, Canada, and United States of America. Tendonlol (talk) 16:14, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep per WP:NLIST. The page has a navigational value. The topic was also covered in literature, for example, in a chapter titled Old Mosques: Destroyed, Lost and Transformed in Twentieth- and Twenty-first-century India. Kelob2678 (talk) 18:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Your opinion clearly indicates you have not read the rules, or, maybe, what I have written. Per the rule of WP:NLIST, a list must have navigational value, and every item must fall under a coherent subject. Buying an unused 1920s church and putting medieval temple conversions on the same list does not create navigational value, but violates another rule because there is no specific logical boundary between the title and the content of the article.
Plus, "Old Mosques: Destroyed, Lost and Transformed in Twentieth- and Twenty-first-century India" talks about the 20th and 21st centuries Indian Mosques. This is not an universally praised or well-renowned book. The scope of the article is very broad, including medieval mosques as well as Christian churches, medieval Buddhist monasteries, and Jain temples, which are from completely different historical and geographical contexts. It is controversial and original research. Plus some claims aren't supported by cited sources, and some are synthesized. Having a source on a subject does not mean events from completely different things can be combined to create a Global List. This misrepresentation can be called a category error.
This article is nothing but a synthetic narrative. Thinking A + B must be C, where A and B are facts is foolish to make such arguments unless a reliable source directly discusses this C or the overall issue. This C is an artificial concept.
Converting a bought abandoned church in America or London into a temple is not a religious conflict or conversion, is a real estate acquisition. This is common sense. Yet, it is shown in the same list as the transformations resulting from historical wars. This is contrary to the rule of neutral point of view, and is likely a hoax as well. Tendonlol (talk) 19:46, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Please be more concise. The source I provided shows that we can have an article titled "list of mosques converted into temples". If we can have similar sources for other places of worship, I see no reason to have separate articles instead of a unified one. Regarding US churches, I also don't see why they are included and would support their removal, but this is not a reason to delete. Kelob2678 (talk) 20:56, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
You agreed that the examples of churches should be removed, which means the article has structural entropy. The main basis of the article is a synthetic premise; therefore, applying WP:TNT (Blow it up and start over) is the most reasonable course of action. Instead of patchwork, it is better to delete it and later create a new article under a separate and correct scope based on a specific source, for example, 'List of mosques converted into temples'.
Let me elaborate. As I have already mentioned twice, the sociological, geographical, and political reasons behind these events range from ancient Buddhist monasteries and mosques during medieval conflicts to modern-day legal 'Real Estate Acquisitions' in Western countries (which you also agree to exclude). Ultimately, there is no existing source which unifies the incidents of mosques, Buddhist sites, churches, and Jain temples. Combining different discrete variables into one analytical vessel is a violation of WP:SYNTH. Tendonlol (talk) 21:43, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
There is no need for TNT, that section can be easily removed. Lists on Wikipedia are usually somewhat synthetic, I don't think that this one stands out. Kelob2678 (talk) 23:06, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Removing that section won't change the title of the article (Conversion of non-Hindu places of worship into temples). There will then only have mosque-related incidents, whereas the title means the article can contain everything across all times, places, contexts.
Since the primary basis of the article is an artificial construct and have not a single academic source, removing that section will be a localized patch for a systemic error because it is an entirely original research and an original survey. I see no alternative to WP:TNT. I think TNT is the only policy-compliant logical path here. I do not understand how your argument will salvage the article. The article is not only entirely original research, but some information is not supported by the cited references. So, I think partial removal is a structurally failed way in this case, and the only viable path is TNT. Tendonlol (talk) 08:45, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep. @Tendonlol: you have written

The listicle presents politically sensitive incidents like the Babri Mosque as equivalent to real estate acquisitions like buying unused churches.

Why is it a problem to be including both cases? Why do you think this article argues for an equivalence between the two? Would you prefer that in the lede of this article it was mentioned that it lists both forced conversions and unused places of worship being bought and reused as Hindu temples? Yuyutsu Ho (talk) 18:48, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
I understand what you are saying. The problems with this article in its current scope are structural, which isn't fixable by introductory disclaimer. Why is this so? Showing historically sensitive socio-political incidents like Babri Mosque and legal processes like the buying unused abandoned church in America under the same structural umbrella of 'Conversion into Hindu Temples' forces an idea of equivalence on the reader.
Lumping all incidents together creates an artificial narrative like global Hindu expansionism or reconquest. Unless there is any reliable source that shows medieval forced conversion and modern Western real estate purchases to be part of the same socio-religious phenomenon, their conflation is an example of WP:COATRACK.
Regarding your point about disclaimer in the lead there are both 'forced conversions' and 'unused places being bought', I think putting a disclaimer in the lead does not make a polyphyletic and synthetic list valid. If a disclaimer is needed to explain why they are in the same article meaning the events are so unrelated, then that means keeping all in the same article isn't right. A disclaimer in the lead is like a cosmetic patch on a structurally flawed foundation. These disparate categories should not be kept under a synthetic umbrella. To say nothing of WP:OR, WP:NPOV, WP:COATRACK, and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Tendonlol (talk) 21:30, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete - Fails WP:NLIST and WP:LISTCRIT. Seems the "grouping" criteria used is "any non-Hindu place of worship that later became a Hindu temple" - it does not seem to be a grouping discussed in reliable sources which raises concerns for OR/SYNTH as noted in nom. The article combines distinct topics e.g. mosque/temple disputes in India, real estate purchases of church buildings by Hindu communities in Western countries, archaeological interpretations of earlier Buddhist sites, Jain sites becoming Hindu sites. Per WP:NLIST ("is based on the group ... has been discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources") and WP:LISTCRIT ("criteria should be unambiguous, objective, and supported by reliable sources. Avoid original or arbitrary criteria that would synthesize a list that is not plainly verifiable in reliable sources"), this grouping is not supported for a standalone list. • Comment — I see a number of Hans India articles in a GNews search. All looks ROUTINE to me, but still, I would request someone to check if we can get three useable sources out of them. BhikhariInformer (talk) 01:57, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep – The article has significant coverage in independent reliable sources, and the promotional issues mentioned in the nomination have been addressed.
The article has been rewritten in a neutral tone and promotional wording has been removed. Reliable independent news sources such as The Hindu and The Hans India provide coverage about academic collaborations, admissions reports, and student programs related to the institution.
    Examples of coverage include:
The Hindu (2025) – Report on international academic collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka.
The Hans India (2023–2025) – Reports on admissions statistics and institutional events.
Although some sources may appear routine individually, together they show sustained independent coverage over multiple years, which satisfies WP:GNG and WP:NSCHOOL.
The article has been improved to follow Wikipedia style guidelines and no longer reads like a brochure.
Therefore, the article should be kept. MANOHAR4517 (talk) 13:21, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Leaning Delete- checked those sources, and found more of just brief mentions, lacks SIGCOV, additional searches from english sites show the same, not opposed to possible ATD with a redirect to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad the school its claimed to be permanently affiliated with.Lorraine Crane (talk) 21:53, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Keep – Further clarification regarding notability and SIGCOV.
The subject has coverage in independent reliable sources including The Hindu and The Hans India. The Hindu article about the international academic MoU is a full news report and provides significant independent coverage, which satisfies WP:GNG. Additional reports from The Hans India discuss admissions statistics, student programs, and institutional activities across multiple years, showing sustained independent coverage rather than a single routine mention.
In addition, the institution is permanently affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK), and is listed on the official university website among autonomous / affiliated colleges, confirming that it is part of a recognized higher-education system.
    Official source:
    https://www.jntuk.edu.in/autonomouscolleges
The article has been rewritten after nomination to remove brochure-like wording and promotional content, addressing the WP:BROCHURE concern.
Considering the independent coverage, official university listing, and improvements made to the article, the subject meets WP:GNG and WP:NSCHOOL. Therefore, the article should be kept. MANOHAR4517 (talk) 11:42, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

I think NOTDIRECTORY applies here: this is a bibliography, but not a very good one, full of original research: "Military and Cantonment Law in India, published in 1904,[1] is perhaps the oldest publication still available on military law." A few possible links showed up in the first AfD, including this one, to help establish that the topic itself is notable, but I am not convinced, and no sourcing has been introduced to render the topic and thus the list notable--since 2013. Architecture of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple

Architecture of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

I've had this sitting on my to-do list because the sources are currently all affiliated with the temple organisation. I started researching better sources, but the only ones that are coming up are sketchy Indian architecture blogs that don't identify a particular author or anything, so I'm not sure on reliability - consider this AfD a call for help if anybody can find better sources that indicate this topic deserves a standalone article.

The sources I've found are but I think something stronger is really needed. Athanelar (talk) 23:17, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment, thanks for trying to improve this page, agree it has areas that could use some work. I see this page as a 'child' article per WP:SS of the main Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala page. I'll look to see if architecture details are covered in secondary sources about the temple. EM (talk) 01:59, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
That's pretty much exactly my concern; the article seems to have been created as a spinout of the main article without actually checking whether the architecture has dedicated WP:SIGCOV to warrant its own article. If that coverage doesn't exist, then this needs to be deleted/merged into the main article. Athanelar (talk) 03:04, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
I didn't find a lot of sources that covered the topic in detail separately as a lot of the architecture related content about the temple is covered in different sources (like history (such as this one and others in general temple architecture books). However, it seems this book (still trying to see how I can access the full version) "The Hill-shrine of Veṅgaḍam: Art, Architecture, and Āgama of Tirumala Temple" by Saligrama Krishna Ramachandra Rao addresses the topic as well as this source "History of Tirupati: The Thiruvengadam Temple, Volume 1 by T. K. T. Viraraghavacharya" but is published by the TTD. I think I would be okay with merging the article to the main article, as I see the specific section in the main article is also poorly sourced, so it's probably best to fix and develop that section first. WP:MILL, sources are limited to announcements & press releases only. Zuck28 (talk) 09:04, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Keep. Having multiple announcements of appointments of national importance covered by reputed sources does pass the test of notability in my humble reckoning. No dubious or local newspapers are included as sources.
The Hindu, Indian Express, Times of India, Press Trust of India- among the most reliable media outlets in India have covered the news whenever a significant appointment was made, in his case, these numerous such. None of these news outlets does not give such coverage to sundry developments.
He was Director General of Police(head of the Police Organisation) of a State that caters to a population of 41 million for two years. There is lot of coverage of his tenure but sources are included to cover the details mentioned. Postbox 2 (talk) 14:56, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Kindly make yourself familiar with WP:PRIMARY, WP:ROUTINE, and WP:NEWSORGINDIA. Zuck28 (talk) 15:04, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks @Zuck28.
WP:PRIMARY - I have been following. No primary source is used here, as I understand it. All, highly reliable secondary sources.
WP:ROUTINE - To quote, "Wedding announcements, sports scores, crime logs, and other items that tend to get an exemption from newsworthiness discussions should be considered routine. Routine events such as sports matches, film premieres, press conferences, etc. may be better covered as part of another article, if at all. Run-of-the-mill events—common, everyday, ordinary events that do not stand out—are probably not notable". Do the appointments mentioned here match any of these, I don't think so.
Wikipedia:NEWSORGINDIA: I am not able to get what this is. Please guide.
Thanks again. Postbox 2 (talk) 16:42, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes, appointment announcements are considered routine and most of the time are primary because they are not independent.
  • Please read carefully you will understand, but some strong indications of NEWSORGINDIA are generic bylines/no byline, sponsored content/branded content disclaimers, press release-based write-ups, and promotional language and words in news articles. Zuck28 (talk) 16:55, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
@Zuck28 Being a routine appointment in itself can by no means be any test of notability or otherwise as it would depend upon what the appointment is about. Appointment to the Secretary General of the UN is a thorough routine but being a routine appointment does not make it non-notable(which we may use to construct a Weberian Ideal Type of a relevant-routine-case). Routine at times can indicate triviality but routine per se only refers to a predictable periodicity. WP:ROUTINE has a clear definition as given and quoted. It is not synonymous with the English word routine without any application of mind. In my humble understanding.
Primary sources, again, have a very clear definition; None of the sources cited fit the bill at all.
I cannot locate the material on NEWSORGINDIA. I tried the link you added. Postbox 2 (talk) 07:28, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

@Zuck28 Thanks. Got the link. Read it. But did not understand the context of you quoting it. My apologies. There is no Yahoo News quoted there. And, as elaborated in the WP:NEWSORG, one had used only the highly reputed sources.
Now that the discussion is perhaps going too lengthy, perhaps out of proportion to the attention we should give to it, I rest my case here. Let the esteemed colleagues here consider and decide. However thanks once again for the kind replies and discussions. It was enriching.Postbox 2 (talk) 12:09, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

The mobile live stream launches like NexG TV, Ditto TV (launched by Zee), and Zenga TV is another player that has been seeing ad revenues. The mobile wallet companies like Airtel money, ITZ cash, Oxicash and GI Tech have built a base of more than 3.5 million customers.". And several references in JSTOR as this, this and this. • Keep. In addition to the media coverage already cited in the article, the family, together with its business operations, has been covered as a group (i.e. not just mentioned in articles focusing on individual members) by academic sources including this report from Japan's Institute of Developing Economies, four pages in the book South Asian Migration (2015) published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and to a lesser extent, a paragraph in Big in Asia (2002), published by Palgrave Macmillan. The family is also the subject of a 1995 article in the Far Eastern Economic Review (Proquest abstract link). These should be enough to satisfy the GNG. --Paul_012 (talk) 16:18, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Cambridge Scholars Publishing is not considered reliable. Kelob2678 (talk) 19:36, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
  • I would also like to ask Svartner and Iljhgtn specifically how they think the article as it stands is promotional. For what it's worth, I'd point out that I created the article as an overview to explain the structure of the family's ownership of Indorama Corporation and Indorama Ventures, as the information isn't a good fit in either of the company articles. Also, neither company is a subsidiary of the other, so redirecting IndoramaIndorama to either one of them is NOT appropriate. --Paul_012 (talk) 16:18, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Yeah, the current iteration of the page is poorly sourced and overly promotional. However, it could be improved significantly because there is a wide range of reliable sourcing out there which suggests notability. Like this one: https://www.outlookindia.com/art-entertainment/film-body-writes-letter-to-pm-narendra-modi-to-help-dhurandhar-release-in-gulf-countries
I would try to improve the page rather than deleting it. Not an expert on Indian culture or entertainment by any means, but there are a bunch of relevant news stories to consider. This article lacks solid, independent sources to demonstrate notability and is largely identical to an earlier version that has already been removed. Despite the addition of a few new references, the article is not significantly improved by them. Concerns have also been raised regarding sockpuppet accounts associated with Taabii, a user who has previously created and supported comparable business-bio pages, raising the possibility of COI. The page was quickly removed under WP:G4 because it closely resembled a previously removed article, as SouthernNights reported. However, this was later undone following a deletion review. Because it has been recreated and defended multiple times through questionable editing activity, deletion is appropriate, and if it continues to be recreated without real improvement, administrators may consider salting the title to stop further disruptive recreations. Comment: Please explain how became aware that this article is largely identical to an earlier version that has already been removed and specifically which few new sources you are referring to. Please note this nomination comes from a SPA with strong indications of being a sockpuppet or block-evading account of TC-BT-1C-SI, who appears to have a vendetta against another user. Please provide evidence of non-independent coverage. Simply asserting that sources are not independent, without explaining why or providing a detailed assessment, doesn't make them so. I ask the nominator to specify which sources they have vetted and provide evidence that a thorough WP:BEFORE search for independent coverage was performed before this discussion continues, as such checks are prerequisites prior to filing an AfD nomination per WP:BEFORE. Like previous nominations by TCBT1CSI, which featured vague, generic and identical comments used across numerous nominations with no evidence of proper due diligence, this also feels like a targeted attempt rather than a good-faith assessment of notability.HibaShaikh (talk) 11:24, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Keep The subject comfortably meets WP:GNG and WP:ANYBIO. The argument that his notability is merely WP:INHERITED from Kedaara Capital doesn't hold water when you look at the last 20 years of independent, third-party coverage.

We have multiple instances of WP:SIGCOV that are biographical, rather than just routine deal reporting for Kedaara Capital. Sources are deep-dives into his personal career trajectory, his Marwari business instinct, and his shift from McKinsey/Temasek to founding his own firm.

Kejriwal’s individual reputation was established long before Kedaara. He founded the India office of Temasek Holdings, one of world's largest state funds, in 2004, overseeing over $4 billion in investments, including the landmark $2 billion Bharti Airtel deal. His influence also extends to public policy, having led the Vision 2020 plan for Andhra Pradesh and coordinating President Bill Clinton’s 2001 trip via the AIF. These are personal milestones that meet WP:ANYBIO.

The international coverage is also significant. He has received numerous honors bestowed upon him as an individual, not a corporation. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and is a frequent speaker at Davos. In 2023, he became the first India-based private equity fund manager to be included in the Hurun India Rich List which was also treated as a milestone for the individual by the business press. His academic pedigree as a Baker Scholar from Harvard.

He is frequently cited/sought out by major international and national outlets like Bloomberg, CNBC-TV18, and The Times of India to provide expert analysis on national economic policy. This is underscored by his membership on the SEBI Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee and his role as Co-chair of the CII National Committee on Private Equity.HibaShaikh (talk) 11:01, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

His role at Kedaara Capital—which has raised record-breaking funds like the recent $1.74 billion fund featured by Bloomberg NDTV—is an extension of an already established, notable career. The sustained coverage from McKinsey to Temasek to Kedaara proves he is a person of substantial interest in his own right.HibaShaikh (talk) 11:01, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment This nomination was created within two minutes of exactly 10 edits by the nominator. • Keep: These are my WP:THREE to meet GNG – . All of them are bylined and have ample SIGCOV. There are many more. A Google News search yields articles upto 30 pages, I mean barely few religious orators have that much of coverage. There are like about 100+ ROUTINE coverage about his preaching principles and Katha ceremonies – many of them have little little details about him in few lines, and there are about 30-40 direct interviews. Interviews and ROUTINE coverage doesn't directly contribute to GNG, but definitely indicate that he isn't just another preacher. Besides....I don't remember when it was last that city traffic routes were changed because of a preacher's ceremony schedule....that stuff usually takes place when the most popular singers have their concerts. BhikhariInformer (talk) 16:49, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Photo galleries, tabloids, and Wikipedia:CHURNALISM, are not considered as SIGCOV, irrespective of the byline. Having a byline is not a guarantee of SIGCOV or reliability. Even if someone has 500 pages of CHURNALSIM, non-reliable, trivial mentions, and other similar problematic sources mentioned in WP:NEWSORGINDIA, it would not be sufficient to demonstrate notability. And your personal experience would be considered WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH and does not help either because of irrelevancy. Zuck28 (talk) 17:18, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Okay.... Leave aside other things and let's talk about the three sources I have attached. They have SIGCOV, are bylined and don't have any interview format. Everything is fine. So are we going to consider them CHURNALISM just because they use a large number of pictures? And follow a Picture-Text Picture-Text repetition format? Tbh, I didn't knew they didn't contribute to notability. Maybe I don't have a clear understanding of CHURNALISM then.....would request you to explain it in a few lines if you won't mind. Thanks! BhikhariInformer (talk) 01:48, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

    • The second source you mentioned is from News18, the headline and the writing style are clearly not journalistic instead a form of clickbait. Also, News18 is generally not reliable.
    • The third source is again a non-reliable photo gallery, with a clickbait headline and unreliable claims and Wp:RSNOI issues.

I am from the region where this temple situates, the article is wonderful and eventhough all the stories related to temple has not been included, it is worth to be preserved. The temple is part of the Kerala History and is related other temples in the region. The author has taken great pain in referring to various events related to the temple. Those who are not from this region and not even a hindu cannot understand the cultural and social history influenced by a temple. ~2026-13142-22 (talk) 09:48, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Merge to List of Hindu temples in Kerala - Not enough coverage. Fails WP:GNG. signed, Kvinnen (talk) 19:10, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep: #1 criterion of WP:NBUILD as well as WP:GNG. It has "historic, social, economic, or architectural importance".
  1. "Kolathukara Shiva Temple. The plan is to upgrade the temple as a national heritage tourism destination considering the status of‘Shivaprathishta’ by Sree Narayana Guru after the famed Aruvippuram Prathishta in 1888." It indicates it is historically and socially significant.
  2. This states "It was at this temple that Sree Narayana Guru, as part of his fight against social evils, installed his second idol of Lord Siva, after the famed Aruvippuram Prathista of 1888." That's a bit of info in an RS.
  3. - SIGCOV about temple in RS.
  4. - Very detailed SIGCOV in a Govt. source
  5. This confirms the fact that "Sri Narayana Guru composed the Kolatireshastavam in praise of Kolathukara Mahadeva." Although the source might not be an RS, but confirms it's significance in the local culture.
  6. This states - "Kulathoor Kolathukara Siva Temple - 1893 March 27 (M.E 1068 Meenam 13) In this temple the Guru installed the Sivalingam by replacing an old ido Bhadrakali." Some history of the temple before its association with Guru.
  7. - About the worship rituals of the temple prior to the Guru's association with it.
  8. - Temple inaugurated by Guru and some additional coverage
  9. - Has some coverage although probably not an RS.

Overall, seems good enough to save the page. BhikhariInformer (talk) 20:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

2. doesn't exist. 1. 3. mention the place in passing, as I mentioned before. None are about the place itself, and do little more than serve as WP:ROUTINE coverage. Source 5. is a speech, so definitely not an WP:RS. The rest even you state are about a Guru involved with the temple and not the temple itself, and aren't even close to WP:RS, let along establishing notability. • Keep Firstly, this is a listed company with 8,000 employees, a 30-year history, and $4B in revenue, so it is very likely to be notable. I found this analyst report. In 2016 there was a proposal to audit the company for high tariffs. This paper contains the following, In the fiscal year 2019–20, Torrent Power Ltd. displayed a Z-score of 1.40, putting it in the "Distress" zone and indicating a significant likelihood of financial difficulties. The company's financial health had not substantially improved, as seen by the Z-score being within the "Distress" category despite a minor improvement to 1.71 in 2020–21. The Z-score further declined to 1.57 in 2021–2022, maintaining Torrent Power's position in the "Distress" category. Another paper says, Torrent Power was identified as the top performer in terms of monthly returns, indicating that its stock price experienced the highest average increase per month compared to other companies in the dataset. This suggests that investors who held shares of Torrent Power saw the most significant gains on a monthly basis. Kelob2678 (talk) 10:43, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
    • Source 1: I am not sure about the reliability of the MotilalOswaldotcom, as it regularly engages in promotion of various companies.
    • Source 2: A political routine coverage about a demand by a politician to audit the company due to some alleged accusations - "because they have been presenting fudged accounts before the regulatory body. There is no transparency in procurement of power and fuel (coal) by the company".
    • Source 3: The Research Gate report is not a WP:SIGCOV.
    • Source 4: Again the Research Gate paper is not a significant coverage. Zuck28 (talk) 12:50, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
The first source states, "Downgrade to Neutral", I don't see how it is promotional. The other three are sigcov. Sources 3 and 4 are both published, I just linked to ResearchGate for ease of access. Kelob2678 (talk) 12:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
I am talking about the reliability of the source itself (Motilal Oswal dot com). And for me, the sources 3 & 4 don't appear to be significant coverage. I would appreciate the opinions of other editors as well. Zuck28 (talk) 13:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Motilal Oswal Financial Services has been involved in some controversies, but as I understand, they weren't related to promotionalism. There is another review by ICICI, which I think you would agree is reliable. Kelob2678 (talk) 13:36, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete This is a company therefore GNG/WP:NCORP requires at least two deep or significant sources with each source containing "Independent Content" showing in-depth information *on the company*. "Independent content", in order to count towards establishing notability, must include original and independent opinion, analysis, investigation, and fact checking that are clearly attributable to a source unaffiliated to the subject. I'm unable to identify any references that meet the criteria for establishing notability. Some editors above point to "analyst" reports but those reports are entirely based on financial information published by the company, and there is insufficient "independent content" that meets ORGIND. In addition, the article contains lots of claims which are promotional - while AfD is not cleanup, my first attempt to try to clean up the article left hardly any content and it was impossible to find sourcing. HighKing++ 13:14, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment Regarding analyst reports, these two about initiating coverage are the best that I can find. I would say that they are good enough to meet criteria for independent content. Kelob2678 (talk) 17:25, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Redirect to Ketti#Education, where it's listed, under WP:ATD-R. Fails in GNG as well as NSCHOOL. I am not the original creator of this article, but I am assisting in improving it by adding reliable sources and historical references. The institution is a long-established residential boarding school founded in 1914 and affiliated with CISCE. Independent citations are being added to address the sourcing concerns raised. Request editors to consider improvement rather than deletion while sources are being incorporated.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Thelaidlaw (talkcontribs) 04:33, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

The refs don't seem to indicate notability: they look very WP:NEWSORGINDIA-affected. Just because something is the first to broadcast on the internet in a given language, a hard claim to accept at face value, does not mean it's notable. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 20:06, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

Comment: Can any one verify if these sources are WP:NEWSORGINDIA or not? Guz13 (talk) 20:13, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Leaning Keep: I think for being the first online FM radio channel in a language lends it a certain degree of notability. But if we go by the sources, except the paywalled The Hindu article, remaining ones succumb to WP:NEWSORGINDIA. The two OneIndia articles aren't straightway NEWSORGINDIA but are kind of ROUTINE. And the coverage in the first source is pretty good, but an interview. So, doesn't meet WP:NORG clearly. The article gets saved only if others agree that being the first online FM radio channel in a language is enough, otherwise let this one be cleaned from here. Promotional article by a user who despite claiming no COI has only edited pages about minor Indian businesses, and who moved the page from draftspace without waiting for the AfC review . Sources include paid placements of press releases with no byline (e.g. ref 1 in Economic Times, part of Times of India, which is known for inclusion of paid content, see WP:TIMESOFINDIA, also refs 2 (In The Telegraph India) and 3-5, 7, (The Financial Express, the business imprint of WP:INDIANEXP) are nothing but reprints of press releases about reports from Zell Education. I can find no sources that are not churnalism, or publication of press releases from the company with no actual journalism involved. I searched for other WP:SIGCOV but could find none. Lijil (talk) 10:38, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

Comment I'm also finding various Reddit threads and so on saying Zell Education is a marketing scam, and there are quite a few complaints about Zell at the Consumer Complaints Court. Obviously these aren't reliable sources, but they do make me concerned about potential harm caused by leaving this article in Wikipedia. Lijil (talk) 12:40, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
