エクリプス賞

エクリプス賞(Eclipse Award)とはアメリカ合衆国の競馬の年度代表表彰である。その年に活躍した人や馬を全米サラブレッド競馬協会(NTRA)の役員、全米競馬記者協会、デイリーレーシングフォーム紙の記者による投票によって選出、表彰する。

1970年まではデイリーレーシングフォームなどのアメリカ競馬で権威あるとされる団体がそれぞれ独自に年度代表馬などを選定していたが、1971年にそれを統一する形で発足した。18世紀のイギリスの競走馬・エクリプスに因んでいる。

  • 最優秀短距離牝馬 (Outstanding Female Sprint Horse)
  • 最優秀芝牡馬（Outstanding Male Turf Horse）
  • 最優秀芝牝馬（Outstanding Female Turf Horse）
  • 最優秀障害馬（Outstanding Steeplechase horse）
  • 最優秀馬主（Outstanding Owner）
  • 最優秀生産者（Outstanding Breeder）
  • 最優秀調教師（Outstanding Trainer）
  • 最優秀騎手（Outstanding Jockey）
  • 最優秀見習騎手（Outstanding Apprentice Jockey）

この他に、傑出した実績を残したり貢献をした者に贈られる特別賞(Eclipse Special Award)、生涯を通じてアメリカ競馬に功績を残した者に贈られる功労賞(Eclipse Award Of Merit)、全米サラブレッド競馬協会のホームページでその年一番印象に残った競走を集計しエクリプス賞と同時に発表するモーメントオブザイヤー(National Thoroughbred Racing Association Moment of the Year)がある。
